Rule Vs. Mutant and question on the Mojo
« on: September 01, 2004, 05:44:24 AM »
Hello I just what to know what the difference between these 2 are because i have a mutant on the way and I was thinking of drilling a Rule maybe having the mutant drilled pin under for roll and maybe the rule pin on the side of the ring and cg by thumb for a strong reaction. Please let me know what everyone thinks or are these two balls similar and I would not need them. Also what would be a good way to set up a mojo? I have one on the way and not sure what to do with it.

Hey Bowler,

My Mutant was strong but my Rule is at least 6-7 stronger on the backends.  Being lite particle, the Mutant wanted to grab a little earlier than the resin.  There's no way I could've played the same shot with the Mutant that I play on the vids with the Rule.

I had my Mojo at a 4x2 for control, it gave me a heavier roll look.

Bowler0821...

I agree with tenpin, my mutant has tons of backend, but it rolls up earlier than the rule due to the different coverstocks...giving me a strong arc.  My Rule can go down much longer and turn harder than the Mutant, as seen in tenpin's video's.

My Rule(MB in #2 pos.) is layed out almost similar to my Mutant(MB in #3 pos.), both pin's are below the ring finger.

Also, my Mojo is drilled 5 1/2x4 with the pin above the ring finger.  I was getting fairly good length but the ball had a heavy roll in the backends.  Great ball!

Thanks so then you think that if I were to get the mutant and the mojo I could also get the rule and not over lap any thing and also I want to say that the mojo is for med oil so would it be good to maybe set it up to be real smooth since I have things that go long and snap. If you need a list of what i have and how I throw let me know or check my profile. Any one else and thanks and peace.

Hey Mike,

Don't worry about overlapping with the Rule.  Based on what you currently have, the Rule is stronger than all of them.  I'd say the Mutant even rivals the Deuce so you may want to pick a layout that gives you a different look as well unless you're planning on replacing it.  If you want the Mojo for just med conditions and you have above avg revs, you'll probably have to polish it some and maybe drill a nice controlled layout like 4x1 or something in the lines of that.  Hope this helps...give us a holler if you want more info...

Mike,

From everything I am seeing the Rule and Mutant should not have a problem with overlap. The Mutant sets up earlier and has less backend than the Rule. When people say that the Rule is very different...it really is.

The Mojo is a tough ball to suggest a layout for. If you want to use it on medium conditions, Rick is right on....you are more than likely going to have to put some polish on it.

goodluck

Hey Mike,

Here's a thought, based on your layout with the Deuce, take the Mutant like you mentioned, place the pin under bridge but kick the mb out towards or on val if you want it to have a smoother rolling look.  Combined with your revs, this should get up and roll pretty strong like Mr Track states.

Now with the Rule, if you want to open up the backends, I'd go with a pin about finger level to above fingers and place the mb in a strong position.  This would be very similar to mine which from the vid, you can tell how strong the ball is on the backend when it sniffs dry.  Let me know if this is something you're interested in or tell me the look desired and I'll try and help with a layout, thanks.
