Based on your experiences, what ball is better for medium-heavy with clean backends? With carrydown? Both balls in box condition, mind you.
-
I don't know how much weight you want to put in my opinion, because I think the Rule is one of the best balls I've ever owned, and I thought the Ultimate Inferno was one of the most over-hyped, and worst balls I ever had, but sticking just with what I saw on the lanes, the Rule seems to have more hook, and more continuation on the backend, and through the pins. A lot of the difference I saw was power at the pins, the Ultimate always seemed to hit a little weak, due to not being strong enough to create good entry angle for me, whereas any carry trouble with the Rule seems to come when the lanes are a little too dry for it, and it burns up its energy a little too soon.
-
I was very unhappy with my Ultimate Inferno. The Rule worked MUCH better for me in oil than the UI.
I basically echo thegame's post!

From what I have seen, the Ultimate tends to work better for bowlers with faster ball speeds and weaker hands. That ball wants to rev soooo fast that it wants to die when it hits the pins. The Rule is the better choice for MOST bowlers here because even though it hooks alot and should be used on medium to heavy conditions, I see that it gets through the heads cleaner thus saving some energy for the backend reaction and hit at the pins. Go with the Rule on this one. The Ultimate is TOO sensitive.

I'd have to agree on this one. From all the UI's I've seen in my area, I have never really been impressed with the reaction and hitting power. The Rule seems like a much more aggressive ball on the backends because is seems cleaner through the heads. The only time an Ultimate Inferno has impressed me was on TV when Chris Barnes was using it...but then again, his ball speed is 19-22mph (which is relatively high compared to many amateur/league/random-joe bowlers).

All your comments greatly appreciated...My Ultimate sounds just like you were talking about, no backend with extremely weak hit( solid tens in my case). I think it would only be of use in floods. I need a ball that is a little more aggressive in the midlane and backend than my V2 sanded which sadly has died. now it cant handle medium-heavy without playing straight as can be. so rule it is...that's the easy part. buying is another story

BB,
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING. IT LOOKS LIKE A SOLID BLUE WITH SPOTS OF PEARL. I THINK IT LOOKS VERY UNIQUE AND FREAKIN AWASOME

EX has stated quite a few times that both the Animal and Rule are solid (particle and reactive) with an additional pearl looking agent. The coverstocks still remain solid; however, the appearance is pearlized. I also e-mailed Track tech support and Chuck Gardner replied, confirming that both the Rule and Animal are solid. The pearlized looking additive looks pretty darn cool!

Kind of confused by the posts here, sounds like everyone is saying the UI is a bad ball. From MY experience it's a great ball. Not what it was hyped to be, something much different, but good none the less. Are you all unhappy because it isn't what it was advertised to be? Does that make the ball bad? In my book it doesn't. Maybe i just match up well to this ball (more end over end roll) but for me on tight conditions, the ball is money. Just my opinion tho. What does everyone else think?

I'm not saying that the UI is a bad ball. I'm just saying that compared to other balls that I've seen, it doesn't seem to hit as well. I personally can't come to a conclusion regarding the UI because I've personally never tried it; however, from watching many people in my area use it, it definitely doesn't seem all that it's 'hyped' up to be.
One of the people I occassionally bowl with has recently started throwing Brunswick (from Storm). Brunswick balls match up to his game a lot better. However, watching him throw his regular Inferno vs. his UI, the Inferno seems a lot snappier and it finishes much better. The UI surely hooks and hits well, but the Inferno seems like a much better ball IMHO from what I've seen.

In a word, Rule. Hands down the best ball that I've ever owned to date.

Evolutionary. Revolutionary.

I have about 4 customers/friends I bowl with that own both and the Rule out performs the UI easily. The UI rolls a little sooner maybe but once the balls get downlane and sniffs any kind of dry, the Rule recovers much stronger with no stopping.

meh....lots of rich people on this board that keep on buying more and more balls! It must suck going through 2 high performance balls that don't match up well to one's game.

Just another quick point....I get more hook out of my Slash than I did out of the UI.

LOL! Now that's really strange...!
My friend's Inferno seems to hook more than his UI, heh!

I haven't thrown the Rule and I still think it's a better ball than the UI.
