scroggins...and the delta one
« on: December 12, 2005, 01:47:36 AM »
So much for making the ball look good...PA made the "One" look better.  Scroggins did have a few blow up 10s.  Other than that, missing those one pin spares hurt.  They said the approach was slick.

Yeah, I am sure he has thrown it better, especially earlier this year. Too bad he decided to have today as his bad day with Track's first showing on TV...oh well, next time!

I thought the ball looked great when THE BOWLER did his job. The continuation through the pin deck was awesome.

Even with the great shoe techonlogy of today!!!

Synthetic approaches stink.

He was slipping and sliding all over the place...half his shots he was in the process of fallin!

REgards,

Lcukylefty
PS I thought ball looked great...maybe a touch too much surface or needed more of a pin up like Allen's.

FOr my eyes -
Even with Scroggins' stroker release, the Delta1 was just too much ball from  that outside line: wrong ball. and it was dull!
The Arsenal Aggressive, Blue Heat or Slash would have been a better choice. Just too much backend!

I'd still like for them to show the layouts, or offer them up on the pba site. It wouldn't be that hard to promote their site with a feature like that.

Looked like The One carried much better than the Delta to me. Scroggins got tapped at least 3 times with a decent shot and never really seemed to get a break. Of course his spare ball looked worse than his strike ball.....

It sounds like the pro's are starting to use more of the top of the line balls opposed to the mid priced ones.

Talked a bit with the Track Tour rep today as he is in town for this weeks stop. They felt they had a real good look with the Delta but incurred way too much operator error. No Barnes again this week either. I would expect to see a lot of Actions and Deltas this week  per their judgment. A lot of complaints going on even from other manufacturers on the conditions.

Dunno about that.  Almost all the Brunswicks we've seen have been Zones.  PDW and Shafer used the Fired Up.  Norm used the Diablo.  That's all "mid-plus" stuff.  Of course, Malott and TJ were using higher-end stuff and tearing 'em up.

We haven't really seen any low-end equipment yet.  TJ used an Ice last year in one tournament with success, and Angelo used a PG two years ago.  Barnes used a Super Trooper a few times, and Robert Smith used a HRH.  But not much this year yet.  Still got half the season to go.

Correction Shelley: Wes Mallot used a Super Trooper on the show several times.

Wasn't he using it as a spare ball?

What do you mean that people are throwing more high end stuff than mid priced?  Mika was using a Goliath last week.  Can anyone here tell us what balls Tommy Jones has used the past 2 years to put him on the map?  I can list several.  For one, he made his living with the Big Time Solid last year.  He started out with his two wins this year with the Ice, and the Overtime.  I have also seen him on tv with a V2 Pearl and a V2 Sanded.  Mika shot 300 last season on tv with a Stinger Low Flare.  Overall, I would say that higher end balls are the more popular choice among the bowlers.  But, there is never a shortage of mid priced stuff hitting the telecasts.

As far as the approaches being slippery, what in the heck do they make the SST series for anyway?  If he was really having that difficult a time with balance and stability, why did he not change his sole, heal, or both?  Isn't that the reason they make those things?  You notice how he did not reiterate throwing the ball like a "league bowler" yet he looked more like a league bowler this time around.  Kinda funny.

What i'm saying is that pro's have mostly used mid-priced equipment.  I feel your going to see a change with more top of the line equipment.  The reason I feel this is because the top of the line equipment now is a lot more controllable for higher rev players than equipment from a couple of years ago.  At least this is what I have seen with my own experience.  We will see if this happens.  This is my opinion only.

I'm not saying that mid priced equipment isn't any good.  I feel there are a lot of great mid priced balls out there.  In fact mid-priced balls have been the most consistant balls on tough lanes for a long time hence why you have seen them in the pro's hands more times than not.

My point on shoes...is old anvil lanes synthetic approaches.  STINK!

Even WITH the great shoe technology today...both lefties were slipping and slidin!  P Allen almost went A over tea kettle!

New Brunswick textured approaches may be the best approaches ever.  May even be better than wood!  Sweet!

.....and most mid priced stuff is symmetrical while the high end stuff is asymmetrical....any correlation there do you think from past conversations?
