Scroggins: The Story of Triumph and Tradegy...
« on: February 12, 2006, 10:24:18 AM »
Hey FASTTRACKERS,

I figured before anybody more than likely would get on here and start bashing Scroggins once again...I wanted to post and say that regardless of the result of his performance on the TV show (once again)...I have the utmost respect for him...the comments I've read in past threads about him being "ugly", about him "throwing it straight", him "not being that great of a bowler"...I feel, in my opinion, he is being disrespected in that sense and this everyone is NOT right...I feel he has made great representation with Track since making the shows other than the Masters telecast...another point I'd like to make is the "league bowler" comment he made at the Masters, this lack of success on TV is probably him being paid back for making that comment, because I know it didn't set well with alot of people that write in any forum on BallReviews.com...

In closing, I would just like to say, I base my likes and dislikes mostly by attitudes and character..even some of the bowlers that I look up to on the TV, I have heard negative stories about from various people...I take stuff like this into consideration...but the negativity put towards Scroggins to demean his character to me is totally unacceptable...we all have our right to say what we feel...but I ask that you base your likes and dislikes for the right reasons, and not just to say "well he's ugly" or "he's not that great of a bowler"...the last comment I feel is very untrue...if he wasn't that great of a bowler, he wouldn't be making telecasts on a consistent basis and on such demanding conditions like the PBA..

NOTE: The following is an opinion by SteveAustin2808, this opinion does NOT represent any affiliation with anyone on BallReviews.com and does NOT mean anything negative towards any users that post in the Track forum or any other forum on BallReviews.com...I have a high respect for each and every user that posts on here and I'm NOT BASHING anyones opinion what-so-ever...God Bless you and have a great week!

Im sorry guys like Weber deminish the game. They bring it down with jesters like suck it and all. I for one like a little celebration, but you should hold some class. Like when mika rolled that 300 sure jason couch made a remark to him saying "You better keep strikeing cause im coming." when he said that you could take that as being a derogatory remark but he was letting him know that he wasnt going to just give him the match. Now I know we have all seen pete weber turn and give the pins a suck it sign or even the person he is playing. That is not bowling that is somthing you see on wrestling not bowling. Ya some celebration is good but not like that. Scroggins isnt the hottest bowler on tv right now but he is making tv. I will give him that. I still feel Mallot is playing alot better then Scroggins. Mallot has eather been 1 or 2 this whole year. One show and he is on for the 5th time he was on 4 straight. He makes it to the found of 8 almost everyweek. So there are alot of guys just blowing up this year. Some are winning on tv others just are not. I do feel he is a little one dimensional in the fact that he only plays one shot. If he could just move in or out a little more. Ya he isnt the guy I like to see bowl much I see guys play like that around here all the time. I would rather watch wes mallot or chris barnes play. Hey even watch WRW JR play for all time titles. I hate watching Pete Weber bowl. If I had to match him to somone els Pete Weberis to bowling what T.O. is to football. Now if he was more like his father he would be great. Dont take shots at RP he is out there trying to get back on tv. The last time he was he got screwed by somebody in the stands who kept moving and making noises. Anyway Scroggins needs to stay calm and make good shots. Maybe he should try the artillary or the reactive somthing strong symetrical. Good luck scroggins. Have fun.

Hey guys,

I actually like Pete Weber's antics. I feel they bring a sense of enthusiasm to the show, I really like what Chris Collins brought to the show when he made it...I like it when guys are animated, it shows they have a personality. I have to admit Scroggins is very laid back, but whatever guys can use to win is a + in my book...they aren't called "pros" for nothing...God Bless you all and have a great week!

Well if you dont like the looks of the guy then wait untill his twinn brother mark makes the show lol. They both look identical. Did any one see the stats for when scroggs wins? I think it showed he averages 250+ but when he loses its around 190. So that seems to tell me that when he gets something that matches up for him he can killem. I dont know what the deal is on tv though ive been noticeing different charecteristics from qualifying and match play to the tv pair. Why cant they put out the same shot or why isnt it playing the same as during the week? I know the tv lights make them transition quicker but he was on the fresh stuff so are they shutting out the left side? I agree with charlest in that speed and revs won today, not takeing anything away from devaney and rash because rash throws one sweet ball. Youve got to love seeing the new guy on the block win one.

The TV lights are on the TV pair for a couple hours before showtime.

I was at the tour stop all week(my house). Scroggins used the MACHINE on the show before turning to the ROBORULE late in the match. During match play he used 3 balls...delta, machine and the roborule. During the pre show practice session he was nailin the pocket with the machine and carrying everything. Then when the show started...it just disappeared. He even stated during the show...why don't my balls react on shows. From my observance, during the practice he played a more direct line (angling toward the pocket) and during the show he started goin more down the lane (straight down 10 trying to let the ball do more of the work.) I was sittin right behind him braggin about track power before the telecast  and then after the show I had to swallow my words . oh well, stuff happens. I'm still a TRACK fan....whoever bowls it.

P.S. Walter Ray also threw the MACHINE all week too!!! Can't wait to get this ball. I was very impressed with it.
