Hey FASTTRACKERS,
I figured before anybody more than likely would get on here and start bashing Scroggins once again...I wanted to post and say that regardless of the result of his performance on the TV show (once again)...I have the utmost respect for him...the comments I've read in past threads about him being "ugly", about him "throwing it straight", him "not being that great of a bowler"...I feel, in my opinion, he is being disrespected in that sense and this everyone is NOT right...I feel he has made great representation with Track since making the shows other than the Masters telecast...another point I'd like to make is the "league bowler" comment he made at the Masters, this lack of success on TV is probably him being paid back for making that comment, because I know it didn't set well with alot of people that write in any forum on BallReviews.com...
In closing, I would just like to say, I base my likes and dislikes mostly by attitudes and character..even some of the bowlers that I look up to on the TV, I have heard negative stories about from various people...I take stuff like this into consideration...but the negativity put towards Scroggins to demean his character to me is totally unacceptable...we all have our right to say what we feel...but I ask that you base your likes and dislikes for the right reasons, and not just to say "well he's ugly" or "he's not that great of a bowler"...the last comment I feel is very untrue...if he wasn't that great of a bowler, he wouldn't be making telecasts on a consistent basis and on such demanding conditions like the PBA..
NOTE: The following is an opinion by SteveAustin2808, this opinion does NOT represent any affiliation with anyone on BallReviews.com and does NOT mean anything negative towards any users that post in the Track forum or any other forum on BallReviews.com...I have a high respect for each and every user that posts on here and I'm NOT BASHING anyones opinion what-so-ever...God Bless you and have a great week!

Nice post. Personally I have nothing against him. My only beef is that I like seeing different people on the show each week. But basically there have been only 3 spots for TV recently.

Hey, I didn't say he's ugly, I just said that's what I think of when I see him.
You gotta admit, he has the look of a squirrel. Kind of how some people associate John Kerry with Frankenstein, and Bush with a monkey. And how many hollywood celebs look like skeletons.

I give the guy a ton of credit. It is extremely difficult to make TV once in a season, let alone 5 times. IMO, the last few episodes have been more bad execusion than anything else. When he threw the Robo today with the correct speed, it was flush, but a little quick with his speed like he was today, and it's welcome to bucketville. I just don't see where all they people are coming from bashing him because he lost on TV?? Remeber, he bowled great all week to make it to TV!! Most of you forget that though!
Congrats Scroggs, and keep it up!!

Is he ugly? I guess you could say so. Just your opinion.
Does he throw it straight? Compared to most, yes.
Is he a great bowler? Compared to me, yes.
What does any of this have to do with Track being a high quality product? Absolutely nothing.
What does his appearance, physical game or talent got to do with anything?
Absolutely nothing
The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. He has made the show several times and has chosen to use Track equipment. Seems every year, someone on tour gets hot, and this year it seems to be Mr. Scroggins.
His bad luck on the show has just about the same to do with any of the above mentioned things. It's not the equipment, talent, or "looks" that are doing him in. Just not in the cards for him to win. When it is, he will win.
Top pro's are ALL good. And good at what they do. He chooses to play a straighter shot than most, but if he was winning, people would think him a genius and be emulating him as close as possible.
P.S. I seem to remember another lefty who threw it pretty straight to. Let's see, what was the name? Oh yeah, Anthony. Earl Anthony. Yep, that was it.

Why be difficult when, with just a bit more effort, you can be IMPOSSIBLE!
-
The big problem I have with him is that he sees to be one dimensional. I feel that to make shows and win on multi conditions you have to be able to change your game and he just hasn't done it yet. I don't see how he can get away with not doing it. Just think though who would be sweet if he used track. That would be Wes Mallot. If he used track he would get by the round of 8 every week. He makes it almost every week. So just think. Mallot+ Track= a hole lot of wins. To be one dimensional would to be like most league bowlers.

I just have a couple of quick questions for the Tracksters in relation to Scroggins:
--Do you think he is a good "representative" of your product, meaning do you think his game is the best demonstration of what Track has to offer?
--Secondly, what do you think about the comment he made into his microphone after one shot, saying something like, "Well, that's not how you reacted all week!!"? Do you think that was a cheap shot at Track? Do you think it may be misinterpreted in any way?
Just looking for your thoughts on these...........

In regards to the second one, that never crossed my mind. I assumed he was talking about the lanes. He obviously had a good reaction with the equipment all week until sunday, so it's not like he would blame the ball all of a sudden.

IF HE IS GONNA MAKE TELECAST IT WOULD BE NICE IF HE COULD AT LEAST THROW A 200 GAME EVERY NOW AND THEN. WITH HIS STYLE AND HIS RECENT T.V. PERFORMANCES HE IS NOT DOING THE PBA TOUR ANY GOOD. THERE IS NO DOUBT HE IS A GOOD BOWLER BUT WHEN HE IS ON T.V. WELL HE SAID IT HIMSELF HE LOOKS LIKE A LEAGUE BOWLER.

Good point, a_ak.
He was tossing one of Track's most aggressive pieces and was complaining about some reaction on that one shot. (Who knows what else he mumbled under his breath on other shots!!) I never took it to mean that he took a shot at the lane conditions, which may be entirely possible.

No Scroggins is not going to help T.V. ratings when he keeps bowling bad, just from a p.r. standpoint, this guy in a nightmare for the PBA tour, bowls great all week and can't do anything on T.V. I don't feel this is a personal shot at him, he just needs to bowl better, can you imagine the story he would be if he had won 3 or 4 titles with his style, in this day and age of the cranker.
--------------------
thank God its bowling night!
In case you hadn't noticed, he didn't execute any worse than the rest of them. His only fault was his lack of speed which seemed, to my eyes, to knock down more pins today than accuracy did. Bothhe and Healey are a lot more accurate than either Rash or Devaney. The oil pattern wound being YET another one of those whose results wind up being more like that of a house shots: revs and ball speed knock down more pins than accuracy does. NOTE: I didn't say it was a house shot; just that result was that scores depended on revs and ball speed, just like a house shot.
Example: Devaney played and made his 3/6/7/10, the same way Rash made the 2/4/10: the lead pin went against the side walls NOT into the pin, Rash's speed is what converted the split NOT his accuracy. If he didn't throw it that fast, he would never have converted the split because it wouldn't have come off the side wall. Been there, done that.
So blame the PBA and that oil pattern which wound up not being what they shot on all week, YET again.
Also, NOTE that, Scroggins has qualified for the TV show 5 different times. I don't know whatthe oil patterns were, but I'd bet they weren't all the same. That "one dimensional" BS that Randy Petersen pulls out of his you-know-whatis just that: a load of BS. I notice he doesn't get anywhere except when the commissioner gives him an exemption; how's that for one dimensional? And while I'm at it, how about if ESPN gets him to stop rooting for his friends on TV and putting down everyone else???
Don't tell us what Scroggins has to do; he is currently, last 6 months, THE best player on tour.
Congratulations, chili, baby! you just brought out the worst in me. But now I feel a lot better.

Above are the pont list rankings....Scroggins leading the way.
I've seen several of the broadcasts with him and yes he's a little boring. I also went to the Masters in Milwaukee and watched him bowl live...he played great beating Duke handily in the finals. It's actually funny watching him live...he looks away from his opponent when the opponent bowls...actually almost jerking his head to the side right before the ball is thrown so he doesn't see the opponents shot
I don't get all the trash talk about this guy...he's good. He doesn't have that big bender but I think that helps him on todays conditions. It makes him more consistent on the heavy oil...proof is in the rankings.
You don't like him...too bad...your going to be seeing a whole lot of him on the Sunday broadcast IMO.

I don't get it. I prefer watching matches that depend on making spares. If I wanted a strikefest, I'd watch leagues at the easy house in town.

Did you also read that i said Scroggins would be a great story if he had won 3 or 4 titles this year?
Scroggins win 3 or 4 titles in a year? This is a guy who's won three titles in, what, 15 years? For the last few years, he's been a top-20 guy, certainly on the list of guys who can make a living on tour. But he's not a winner. Good bowler, but aside from his frequent TV shows (he made 5 two years ago as well), he's never been a winner. Consistent, respected, but not a threat to win. Never really has been.
The only reason I see for people to expect more of him is that he's making lots of shows. That simply isn't the type of bowler I see him as.

Im sorry guys like Weber deminish the game. They bring it down with jesters like suck it and all. I for one like a little celebration, but you should hold some class. Like when mika rolled that 300 sure jason couch made a remark to him saying "You better keep strikeing cause im coming." when he said that you could take that as being a derogatory remark but he was letting him know that he wasnt going to just give him the match. Now I know we have all seen pete weber turn and give the pins a suck it sign or even the person he is playing. That is not bowling that is somthing you see on wrestling not bowling. Ya some celebration is good but not like that. Scroggins isnt the hottest bowler on tv right now but he is making tv. I will give him that. I still feel Mallot is playing alot better then Scroggins. Mallot has eather been 1 or 2 this whole year. One show and he is on for the 5th time he was on 4 straight. He makes it to the found of 8 almost everyweek. So there are alot of guys just blowing up this year. Some are winning on tv others just are not. I do feel he is a little one dimensional in the fact that he only plays one shot. If he could just move in or out a little more. Ya he isnt the guy I like to see bowl much I see guys play like that around here all the time. I would rather watch wes mallot or chris barnes play. Hey even watch WRW JR play for all time titles. I hate watching Pete Weber bowl. If I had to match him to somone els Pete Weberis to bowling what T.O. is to football. Now if he was more like his father he would be great. Dont take shots at RP he is out there trying to get back on tv. The last time he was he got screwed by somebody in the stands who kept moving and making noises. Anyway Scroggins needs to stay calm and make good shots. Maybe he should try the artillary or the reactive somthing strong symetrical. Good luck scroggins. Have fun.

Hey guys,
I actually like Pete Weber's antics. I feel they bring a sense of enthusiasm to the show, I really like what Chris Collins brought to the show when he made it...I like it when guys are animated, it shows they have a personality. I have to admit Scroggins is very laid back, but whatever guys can use to win is a + in my book...they aren't called "pros" for nothing...God Bless you all and have a great week!

Well if you dont like the looks of the guy then wait untill his twinn brother mark makes the show lol. They both look identical. Did any one see the stats for when scroggs wins? I think it showed he averages 250+ but when he loses its around 190. So that seems to tell me that when he gets something that matches up for him he can killem. I dont know what the deal is on tv though ive been noticeing different charecteristics from qualifying and match play to the tv pair. Why cant they put out the same shot or why isnt it playing the same as during the week? I know the tv lights make them transition quicker but he was on the fresh stuff so are they shutting out the left side? I agree with charlest in that speed and revs won today, not takeing anything away from devaney and rash because rash throws one sweet ball. Youve got to love seeing the new guy on the block win one.

I was at the tour stop all week(my house). Scroggins used the MACHINE on the show before turning to the ROBORULE late in the match. During match play he used 3 balls...delta, machine and the roborule. During the pre show practice session he was nailin the pocket with the machine and carrying everything. Then when the show started...it just disappeared. He even stated during the show...why don't my balls react on shows. From my observance, during the practice he played a more direct line (angling toward the pocket) and during the show he started goin more down the lane (straight down 10 trying to let the ball do more of the work.) I was sittin right behind him braggin about track power before the telecast and then after the show I had to swallow my words . oh well, stuff happens. I'm still a TRACK fan....whoever bowls it.
P.S. Walter Ray also threw the MACHINE all week too!!! Can't wait to get this ball. I was very impressed with it.
