Sheer Havoc opinions
« on: January 19, 2005, 03:23:42 AM »
There's not much in the review section on this ball, so I'm seeking opinions here.  I can pick up one of these pretty cheap right now, but I don't want to save money and get something I won't like.  Would like to have a good mid-lane control with a solid arc to the pocket.  Skip-flip gets too sensitive for me.

You probably won't believe this, but I'm actually looking for a medium ball to replace a couple that have died.  I am more of a ball of the year kind of guy, so that is how I ended up in this predicament.

From what you've described reaction-wise, I think the Sheer would be an EXCELLENT addition.  Mine reacts just like you described, good mid-lane control, nice solid arc to the pocket, and the hit at the deck is outstanding!  Very controllable reaction, also reacts well to surface changes.  Without knowing your specs it would be tough to suggest a layout, however mine is drilled label, not exactly sure what the finishing statics were, but the reaction is just amazing!

Here is a pic of the layout...no video, hopefully soon (could use some help on that end, if anyone is willing...)

The Sheer falls into the "underrated" category for me. The core is essentially the great core from the Assassin, Enforcer, and others. The Sheer, for me, gives me decent control, as it reads the lane pretty well, and hits like a tank. As for drilling, any information from you (pap, etc)would be great to help determine what would work for you.

I also have a Sheer and it fits the bill for what you are describing. Mine is drilled pin under ring, cg 2.5" right of grip center with a small weight hole. It reads the mids and makes a very strong move to the hole. Its not flippy at all. And as already stated, it "hits" very hard.

I also agree about the underrated part too, you dont hear much about this ball at all, but it is one of the best Track balls I have thrown.
