short sport pattern ball
« on: September 29, 2005, 04:02:05 PM »
looking for a track ball that would be good for a short sport pattern

i am def gettin a desert heat, but i am thinking i would be able to use that on more burnt anyway

profile: medium revs, medium speed (revs and speed match), 15 degrees tilt, high track (pap 5 over 1/8 up), not a huge fan of particle balls but was thinking hex-plosion with a smooth weak drilling and alot of polish would be a good option?

any suggestions are welcome

The term "sport shot pattern" really leaves the door wide open as to what condition you need a ball for.  In general speak however, balls that are smooth rolling and predictable are generally more successful on these patterns.  The Slash from what I have seen is very predictable and a great piece.  The new Solution Power Plus may even work.  Without knowing what type of pattern, its hard to give a more specific answer.

You have the solutions or maybe even a heat... just depends on how short. The solution Power Plus is a med oil ball but you can tweek the surface. The Solution Power Plus Ex is a med-light oil ball so it could go down to far for you. id wiat to see what other people have to say . goodluck

i was thinking of putting a smooth weaker drilling on a power plus ex and giving it a little surface (2000 abralon, maybe 4000 depending on how it is) because i love the slash and love the core, but it would be alot of ball on a shorter pattern

I play on sport type conditions all the time for league.  When they throw out the light oil sport type shot my desert heat works great.  The slash would be another ball but not for a dry sport shot.

Hey bud which ever ball you choose I would drill it with a label layout for sport shots.  Most sport type conditions have super dry backends which cause aggressively drilled balls to be uncontrollable when they hit the dry.  This is where the label layout helps a lot.  It keeps the ball from overreacting.  I hope this helps bud.
