Giving in... Had to get a MEANIE!!! (Vid included)
« on: August 15, 2006, 07:42:47 PM »
Hey Fastrackers!

You might remember my other video post about keeping it old school?!  Well, after watching Rick and Mike's vids and hearing everyone's excitement about this ball, I just had to see it for myself.  And I am glad I did.  The ball may say MEAN on it, but it sure is NICE at how forgiving the ball really is!!!

Here it is... my Mean Machine vid

Hey Kevin,

Very nice vid and nice revs.  If by chance you ever feel that you're not able to control your reaction or it gets too strong, take a look at Sixcranker's vid and try toning down the lift some.  By toning down, we use less muscle effort which allows us to control our body better which then allows for better accuracy.

We all have an "A" game with certain physical limitations.  It's only when we push or exceed these limits that tend to lead to our inaccuracy.

LOL.. Or a very forgiving lane condition...  Regardless, the ball seemed to roll very smooth.  May be nice for some of the medium/heavier "flat" conditions..

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the tips.  Right now, I'm able to control the ball very well.  I have a good 3 board mark that usually works for me  The only problem I tend to run into is getting the ball out.  What advice would you give when I start missing left?  Is there like a shoulder shifting technique that could work?

Thanks for the help!~!

Good vid man. The MM looks better every time I see it thrown.

I'm not Rick, but what I do when I start missing left if pointing my toes to the right (/) on the approach. That normally fixes my problem.

Hey Kevin, Larry offers some good advice here but the thing to remember to do along with this is to always stay "square to target" with your shoulders or chest at the point of release.

I like using the quarterback analogy for this.  Pretend you're in the middle of the football field and you want to throw a pass to your receiver on the right sideline.  Your shoulders and chest should be facing right and your shoulders should be open compared to the scrimmage line/yardage marker when you throw the ball.  However, even though your shoulders are open, you are still "square to your target" when doing this.

The next pass is to your receiver cutting thru the middle straight in front of you.  When you throw this ball, your shoulders should now close up and become even or parallel to the scrimmage line and again you are still "square to target".

The pull or tug can come from many things but if you keep your shoulders and body slightly open at the point of release, it makes it more difficult for you to pull the ball "across" your body and hopefully you should feel it pretty awkward to tug.  Facing your target is a good helpful reminder to where the ball path should go. Hope this helps some bud...

Super, slow down your first and second step a little. You will be suprised at the accuracy that you will develop.

Most pull shots come from rushing the approach.
