Well he's not on staff... so he isn't obligated to use the newer equipment.

you are so right about walter being simple , not that i know him or anything ,but i did write hime on his website after watching him bowl with the phenom unleashed 2 years ago in a tourney after i had bought mine and he really seemed not to know or care much about the tech of bowling he sumed up his response with i use what works and i cant tell you what i was bowling with because i am not on staff.

Well, I think it probably has a little to do with the fact he is familiar with that equipment and knows exactly what he can expect from that ball on a particular condition. If it works, why change?
I have seen him throw a GP2, so he does have some newer equipment, though.

quote:
either, just some sanding or polishing.  When it comes to layouts and such, Walter doesn't keep up with that either, when talking to him it really would sound like he doesn't know a whole lot about the technical side of bowling. Meaning your local pro shop guy probably has more bowling ball knowledge than Walter does. Walter just knows how to win and how to bowl, thats the biggest trait you need!

I'd be shocked if he were truly clueless about equipment.  I would expect him to know, say relative strengths between balls and the difference between shiny and dull.  He's got a degree in physics from Cal Tech.  He's certainly capable of understanding his equipment.

Actually, didn't he do his senior project on bowling equipment? I could have sworn that I remember hearing that somewhere..

How many people on here(me included) are still raving about their Original heats? Wonder how many of the ball junkies(non-staffers) have moved on from their Rules, Crunches and Animals(among others)

I was like a kid in a candy store when I found an Unleashed at my distributors a few weeks ago, and I am watching for Phenoms and more Unleasheds as we speak. Even though I am on staff, when it comes to tourneys, I may have all of my new stuff with me, but by the same token, I will have what wins me $$ as well.
