Heavy Havoc?
« on: December 08, 2005, 01:12:42 AM »
If you dropped the surface of the original Havoc to about 800 grit and drilled it stack, for those of you who have thrown the Havoc. How much oil do you think it would handle?

Have one on the way and really want it to handle more than medium to heavy. Is it possible?

Its very aggressive to start..I drilled one a few months ago for a good friend, and he decided to sand his with 320! Needless to say, it started up earlier than his Animal. It can handle TONS of oil that way...and this guy plays up 10 WITH a wrist brace...and I have never seen him play as deep as he has with the Havoc sanded.

As a note, he sands it down to 320 about once every other week....it has a tendency to shine up on him after using it for a while.

My Havoc handles medium oil pretty well and it just has the out of box finish.  If you sand it down it should be able to handle heavier oil.

I got my Havoc used from tenpinspro and he sanded it to 600 when he redid the cover. It was too strong for medium oil, so I resanded it to 500 grit with an Abralon Pad which leaves a smoother finish on the cover than scotchbrite and sandpaper and polished it shiny with 3M Finesse It II and this ball became a monster on medium oil and has been my "first ball out of my bag" since back in April and it remains so today.
