My first Track Ball....sort of.
« on: September 01, 2006, 04:13:18 PM »
I won a Track Machine off of eBay from Mike Scorggins, and this will be the 2nd Track ball I've ever thrown..and the first one in a while. (Arsenal Angular was the first one which was an x-out).

This ball is layed out with the pin directly below the ring finger, with the CG about 4-5" below that, the BC? is located to the bottom and left of the thumb, and there is an x-hole about 3" to the left of the thumb hole, approximately 1" on an diagonal from the BC?.

First question....is the Machine a good medium oil ball?

Second....the span is a little too long, and moving the fingers down wouldn't be an option due to where the pin is located.  If I were to move the thumb up to fit my span, would it affect the drilling on this ball a lot?  As far as where everything is located?

Third...what kind of reaction should I expect from a ball drilled this way?  I can see that Mike is a low tracker, and I am a high tracker...any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance!

It really depends on your game...in your profile it says you are a stroker....for a stroker that layout would be good on medium conditions.

BC is the MB.

If I were going to plug anything to get it to fit properly I would plug the thumb. That is my preference though.

That ball in general should roll pretty early and offer up good backend. The Machine is a very good ball. I have not seen anyone throw it and NOT like it!

Goodluck,

Carl,

Thanks for the response.  I will definately plug the thumb, but I want the least amount of plug work possible for this ball.  So I'd like to leave the layout the same as it is.

If I bring the thumb up.....it would have to be brought up 5/16 to the ring and 3/8  to the middle finger.  Or close to that.  Would the x-hole placement make the ball illegal or anything like that?

Here's a pic:

It shouldn't. Just move the thumb and have it weighed up just to be sure it didn't change the ending static weights too much.
