A couple of weeks ago I bought a Solution Power Plus EX off eBay for $26 plus shipping, NIB, not a blem. I bought it because I wanted something cheap to try a 5x5 drill pattern on.

When I got the ball, it had a 2.5-inch pin, and with my PAP it meant a 5x5 wasn't going to be a great drill for the ball. So I ended up at like 4x3.5. I bought it specifically to try a very angular skid/snap drill.

Today I got the first chance to test this ball. I don't have enough info yet to do a full review but I wanted to tell you guys about this before while those eBay auctions are still going on.

The ball goes sideways, for one thing. Far more angular than my Arsenal Angular, big booming backend that rivals my Machine and a couple of Roto Grip balls I have, a Winning Streak and a Silver Streak SE. I also bought this ball in 14 pounds (I have a mixture of 14- and 15-pound stuff that I use depending on how my wrist feels), and the carry is as good or better than my heavier stuff.

But as sideways as this ball gets, it was also very controllable and forgiving.

If you have a choice between spending $30 or less on this ball or plunking down a couple hundred for the newest thing out there, save yourself some money and just get the PPEX.

Is that ball similar to the Animal Untamed ?  I keep seeing that one on eBay too for a pretty good price too.  I believe they have the same converstock.

CANNIBAL CORPSE RULES YOU ALL

different coverstock for different purposes. AU had 1500 grit solid (I believe) POWERPLUS, with low RG, high differential, mass bais ball for heavy medium oils. Solution PP Ex is PowerpLus Ex solid/pearl combo with high gloss polish, low medium RG with medium differential for medium-light oil and HUGE backend

Hey Jess,

Glad you like the piece.  The 5x5 for you most likely would not have offered you the same look you're getting now.  Thanks for trusting us and letting us help you...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mutilated, the Animal Untamed is a much stronger ball and with its lower rg, would roll differently comparatively.  As Mr Charlest states, the Solution EX is a much weaker ball by design.  For me, my 2 were probably about 6-7 boards apart (at least).  Hope this helps...

I bought my Solution from the same Ebay seller ($36). I like this ball alot, especially when the lanes get drier. It has similar length to my Desert Heat, but a much bigger backend reaction (pics are in my sig).
