Which would be better ... Heat vs Solution PP EX ?
« on: October 24, 2005, 02:08:51 AM »
From anyones personal experience, how do these balls match up to one another ??? I'm looking at plugging one of them into my current lineup below my FAZ and above my Desert Heat. Which one would be most versatile overall for THS, sport, tourney patterns and not create any overlapping with the FAZ (3 1/2" pin 1/2" above ring and just right of ring centerline, stacked layout)and Desert Heat (3" pin, 4x2, pin below ring). TIA !!!

I know the heat would fit right above the desert heat as long as you drill it the same or stronger.

To me, it depends on what you want. The balls will be very close to each other, but from what I have seen personally the Ex has a little more punch on the backend...both clear the heads very well. CharlesT gavea great review on the Ex, but if I remember right, did not have a Heat to compare it to.

I think this is a safe comparison:
In today's oil environment, the Heat and the Soln PPEx both handle their intended oil target, medium-light very well. However, they do it in a slightly different manner. The Heat is slightly earlier with slightly less backend, IN GENERAL (same drilling, same bowler, same oil pattern, and all that "rot"). That ball path being the case, I, who usually have some degree of control problem with extra flippy balls, do not (yet) find the Soln PPEx to be uncontrollable.

I'm finding the same thing with my Solution EX. The flip at the backend has been hard to control. The Heat has been easier to control but I have not found the cary everyone else has. I had been leaving a lot of flat tens so I polished it with Magic Shine. I will have to test a little more to see if this will help.

Solution EX  4 1/2 x 3
Heat         3 1/3 x 3 1/3

Robb,

I agree with much others have said, but to add to them in my own way

They handle pretty close to the same condition.....I see the Solution PP EX being slightly longer with a touch more backend than the Heat. The Heat is more predictable at the breakpoint and seems to be less sensative to oil than the S PP EX.

I hope this helps,
