Let's Talk Straight on Track
« on: April 29, 2008, 01:09:05 PM »
Most of you know I roll Hammer so defending another company isn't usually my thing unless they're being unfairly attacked. Some of you here are wrongly laying blame for perceived problems at the feet of Paul Figliomeni and Ebonite International and you're are acting on bad information/don't know the truth. Consider the Rick Leong situation; when a working staffer tells you it's a dead issue, please let it go. Rick is a great guy, but none of you know the reasons Rick isn't around and they do. I was fortunate to speak with Paul tonight because he is extremely concerned with the way people in this forum were vehemently bashing Track, but the same folks are not willing to suggest helpful ideas. He shared so intersting figures and the basics of some happenings. Let's say the information was enlightening.

For those who have a real gripe with the equipment, please contact those staffers or Paul and they will be more than happy to help you.

For those of the old "Track Legion" who feel "burned" by Ebonite's and Paul's actions, you are not being objective. Paul hasn't been there long enough to get the ball rolling and it's true that the first three balls were rushed compared to the average development time. Some of you have said the Rising drill sheet is bad. True enough, but ask for help, don't just whine. Give them a chance at try to remove you old blinders. Be contructive or at least open to change. These are not the same two companies so the comparison is unfair. Give Paul and the new guys a fair shake to win your loyalty as Phil, Del, Rick, etc... did over the past years.

Thanks,

Why try to be reasonable, Ken, when most "attackers" are not interested in such?

No, it's not Paul's fault. He was given the job to make Track a viable entity under the Ebonite umbrella, and he can only do what he is allowed to do, with in the parameters defined for him, by his immediate superiors.

It's a new world for the former Columbia brands. We can only wait and see and try those of their new products we feel interested in.

so why all the complaints?it sounds like it's all injust and unfair.bottom line is Track/Ebonite makes a product to sell,no matter what.simple rule is we as the customer can choose what we want to spend our hard earned money on no matter who is at the helm and what the secret plan for all four divisions are.I can easily buy from another company.as a company out to make a product/profit you have to sell to the public and from what I've been reading it's simply not looking too good.

well im one of the true Track fanatics, im the only one that throws Track exclusively at the house i bowl in, the pro shop never carried Track, but i talked the pro shop into getting some of the new Track balls, talked a few people into trying them out and every single person that bought one loves it and has thanked me for telling them to get the ball, every single one of them has said they will try out more Track equipment and the proshop actually trys to keep at least one of the Track balls in stock now and has thanked me for the promotion(wish he would give me a ball for the work lol)

i dont throw a big hook so alot of people really never saw what the balls could really do, but now that some of the big hookers(i still have a higher average, a big hook isnt everything) have started throwing them alot more people ask about Track

i will probably throw Track until i die or they go out of business, they have done well for me so why change, im a loyal type person and will stick with something until it screws me over

williewc,

Thanks for the support and pushing the brand. As people see the equipment in action and are trying it for themseleves, they are realizing how good the new stuff really is.

I have gotten quite a few people into using the new equipment and everyone loves it. We even have one proshop operator that loves it so much he got rid of all the Storm stuff he was carrying and relpaced it with the Track line and is selling a lot of balls.

The last few centers that I have called home have never carried Track either. In fact, I believe that I am the only person in our 28 team scratch league that even throws Track equipment. One of my teammates on that league is the pro shop owner and he has commented on the equipment and has noticed how well the Temper reacts on that shot. I have been literally begging him to start carrying Track equipment, but in all honesty, he's become a Hammer guy ever since he dropped his contract with Storm.

I have also been spreading the word with other bowlers that I cross with if they ever ask me about what I am throwing. It's gotten to the point now that most people know that I am a "Track guy" and I hope that I can at least convert a few people over.

As for Paul, I would consider him a straight shooter that tells you exactly where things stand. I concur with his statement about chaos with the brand and I believe that he needs some time to get everything back in order. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the Track brand won't be rebuilt overnight either.

There has been a lot of bickering over Rick Leong and Track parting ways. As a personal friend of Rick's I was sad to see this happen. The one thing that Rick told me after the split was to stick with what was working. He absolutely refused to bash, complain, or criticize the brand. He also refused to get into details as to why things happened. More over, Track staff have not said anything about the issue. For the brand, I believe that its followers should follow suit.
