Track Xception
« on: December 02, 2004, 01:33:28 AM »
I just got my first Track ball (xception) and was wondering how I should lay it out.  I am also going from a 16 pound to 15 pound, the ball I purchased has a 3 inch pin and 3 ounces of top weight.  I will try and describe the way I throw the best I can.  The lanes I bowl on are synthetic and have a medium oil pattern.

Above average speed, a high tracker, my best shot is a down and in playing about the 8 or 10 board.   Also, if anybody knows how Walter Ray had this ball drilled when he won his tournament I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Bill

Walter's Exception was drilled 3 5/8 by 3 5/8 with a 23/32 hole at 5 1/2 inches.

Do you know your PAP?

I track very high and have about 18 MPH as well. MY FAVORITE drilling is pin tucked under my ring finger, cg in the palm, and mass bias ending up under the thumb or to the left of the thumb(I am right handed, so sometimes the mass bias is in my track). This gives me a controlled reaction that is non-violent in nature and keeps me out of trouble on over-under. I have about 10 balls drilled this way, including a couple of Rules, Animals, Phenoms, Unleasheds, Untameds, with different finishes on covers to give me a different look.

Let me know!

Has anyone polished there Xception with Magic Shine or anything else? My Xception checks up to early when it encounters dry.
Thanks,

Hey ihs,

Like Clint asks, if you can get back to us with some more detail about your game, we'd be glad to help with a layout.

Hey DW, I haven't tried to polish mine but just curious as to where your mb is or are you trying to use it on that O/U shot we discussed before?  Just checking bud...

Rick,

The pin is 4" and the mb is 3" from my PAP. I know this is kinda strong but I was thinking this thing is a pearl and should get down the lane. It get through the heads just fine but as soon as it encounters dry it turns left in a hurry. I am still on that o/u shot but it has blended a little better over the last month. It still breaks down so I can only use the Xception one game.

Thanks,
DW

Hey DW,

The 3 inch mb is a little close which is adding to the ball reacting soon but the "checking up" reaction you're describing is sounds more like a sign of the cover being a little too strong for that amount of dry.  I'd say try the polish and it should hopefully be able to help get you downlane easier.  You may also want to check your positive statics as that will have some influence in how hard you turn over once the ball wants to make it's change of direction.  By decreasing your positive statics some, the ball will transition a little smoother once it encounters friction.  Hope this helps..

PS. Responded to your pm bud..
