New guy here
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:00:21 AM »
Hi,  I just thought I'd introduce myself to you guys here on the board.  My name is Jon Ellerhorst.  I am a Track PBA Regional Staffer.  I hope to be bowling all of the stops the second half of the season in the Central Region.  I live near Lansing, Michigan and own a pro-shop inside Mason Bowling Center in Mason, MI.  Currently, I am working in lane maintenance at the USBC Open Championships in Corpus Christi.  Yep, I am one of the guys who oil the lanes here.

I have been an acquaintance of Del Warren's for several years as I would attend almost any seminar I could get to.  When I opened up my shop it also opened the door for me to joining the Track family.  I have been a PBA member since 2001, but have not bowled in the past 2 years due to my shop.  This is my second year on Track Staff and I plan to frequent this site as well as the Track website.  I usually do alot of reading and really only post when I feel I can truly add to the discussion, or answer a question.  I have seen that Clint does a very good job answering many of the questions presented and hopefully I can add another viewpoint at times.  If you ever have any questions, feel free to send me an e-mail.  If you ever happen to be near Lansing, feel free to stop by my shop.

Thanks everyone,  Jon

Hmm... Looks like someone found yet another way to kill time when the shop gets slow?

Welcome to the Forum and to the Track family. I just moved to Seattle and bowl the Northwest region. I left Texas where I was bowling in the Southwest region. I have been a Track staffer for 6 years and will be on Tour next year. If you have any questions for me don't hesitate to ask. I haven't been able to post much with moving and changing jobs but I will be on here more often now.

Hey Jon, welcome to the Track forum.   Good to see another staffer join us out here.  We have a very good group of guys out here and we try to help anyone who asks for it.  Looks like you'll be a great asset to the board in defining some of the PBA shots for us, welcome again bud.

Welcome to the Track forum. You will find the folks here are really good people, very knowledgable (except me) and helpful, much more so then most other forums. As for oiling the lanes....could you send some up to Holiday Bowl in Albuquerque, NM?  Please!

Chuck

This guy is good...  I've seen him bowl on occasion and he has 40+ award scores to his name.  16 300's and apparently one of those is a Sport Bowling 300.

Welcome to the board, lots of great people on here, glad to see we are gaining another, cause a bowler can never have too many sources of good input.

Thanks for the kind words and the warm welcome so far.  I guess I should add that while I am a avid supporter of Track, it is really Del Warren that brought me on board.  I have been a follower and user of his designs going back to the RPM Swirl while he was with AMF.  Anyone remember Bob Learn Jr. blowing it up on TV in Erie, PA?  I've had great success with the Torque Pearl, MJ Slam and Angle Evolution Extra.  So, when Del moved to Track I naturally followed him.  I have to say that I am extremly happy that Del is back at the controls at Track.  I think great things are in store for the coming years.

Sixcranker, let me know what times you are bowling and I can keep an eye out for you.  I'm not too hard to spot when oiling the lanes.  I'm the big, round guy with a goatee.

Hey Jon, is John Forst (ex-PBA) still doing lanes for Nats too?  I bowled with him back in Chicago when I ran my first shop...I saw him last in Knoxville I think, thanks.

Nope, Forst is working at Kegel.  I believe the last time Forst did the lanes here was back in 2001.  Kegel is a consultant for us now, they provide the lane machines, oil, cleaner, duster cloth etc.  They also send someone to help us with the setup of the oil pattern.  We have a very capable person who is the Lane Maintenance Supervisor here, he had been offered a job at Kegel in the past.  I've been in lane maintenance for a little over 5-years now but have been a very quick study.  It also helps that I have a love for the game.  I believe he is bowling soon though.

Hey Jon, welcome to the track family! Now we have a staffer who can explain drillings and lane maintenance both and how to relate the two together! Again, welcome!
