Strike Machine Review Update
« on: October 06, 2006, 09:04:30 AM »
Since I don't normally do reviews on balls as I am from the old school, when you just drilled it and threw it here goes.

My Strike Machine is drilled 5x5 with the pin just above the ring finger and its actually drilled out just a hair at about the 11 o-clock mark. The MB is at 7 o-clock on the thumb and it was drilled out just a hair. The ball started out with the pin, cg, and Mb all in a straight line in the middle of the ball and my driller said it was one the best specs he has seen. My pap is 4 3/4 up a 1/4 and with the drilling this ball was smooth until the break point and then made what I would call a smooth left turn. Not a big sharp turn, but something one could handle.

I was on fresh oil on synthetics with the pattern at 10x10 to 40 feet. No buff is what they say.

This ball in my opinion is not for medium oil. It would be more for medium heavy to heavy. I shot 254 first game clean out of the box and then the 10 pins started. I know this is only one game to judge the ball by, but I took out the 7-10 on a slight off hit and I don't normally have messengers.

I will use it on a more hooking shot with back ends on Mondays league and will update this review then.

Edited to add the pin is at 11 o-clock instead of 8 o-clock.

I bowled tonight on all wooden lanes with the shot being around 10-10 to 35 feet with I would say buffed to 42. Started with my Robo Rule playing at the 8 board and shot 223 with pocket 7-9 in the 10th. I am right handed and have never left this split before. Shot 200 the second game as the lanes broke down. Changed to the Strike Machine in the 3rd game and was standing 27 looking at 15 with the ball going out to the break point of around 9. Started with the first 4 as this ball hits pretty good on off hits as well as those in the hole

Everyone else was using their spare balls in the 3rd game and I was playing the break point and shot 247 clean. I have 3 games on this ball and feel if your on medium oil you will have to play deep. I like this ball as it doesn't over hook as its drilled. I will keep it in my bag for when the shot breaks down and you need something that will carry the 10 pin in the 3rd game.

That's rather amazing.  almost sounded like you were describing a mean machine
or a machine.  have only drilled three strike machine's so far.  and none of them reacted the way yours does.

they all seem to be better suited for light -med oil pattern's with clean backends.

also 40' of oil with no buff???  have not seen that lately,  at least in our area.

do you have a lot of hand with slower ball speed?

anyway good luck with your ball.

I throw around 15.5 to 16 mph and as far as hand, I put some fingers in the ball from the old days, but do not crank the ball like kids do today. The ball rolls very well for me and it reminds me of my old ACE, but more ball.
