PBA Experience
« on: June 04, 2007, 08:48:15 AM »
I've been asked to sub for a friend in a PBA Experience league who is injured. I am excited as I wanted to try something like this and planned on doing so next year. I am concerned for a couple of reasons: One my game is not at all where I want it to be. Secondly, I have not drilled anything up as of yet from storage.

I guess I will have to look at what I have drilled and tweak the surfaces.  All my stuff is older, but I maintained the covers all along and they're all still very much "alive."

Current Arsenal in use
Rule GP2  Rev Leverage  Very aggressive drilling
Animal 2  1 Pin up/out of ring finger. 2 Pin below fingers on GCL
Mutant
Rule   2  1 Pin up. 2 Leverage
Thrash
Freak Out
Track Magic
Sugar Ray Glove spare ball

I know my pin under the fingers Animal should work. That ball does me no good on the THS.

The Freak Out is a monster for me. On the THS I am playing from 25-30 approach ad swinging the ball from the area of 15-20 out to the track area and beyond.  I can see me playing that down and in. I've used it that way when the shot allows. I have a Mutant drilled the same way. That ball will need a surface tweak.

I guess I will see what this is all about. I am not in a position to drill up anything such as my Phoenix and any of my Machines until July. Would love to set up a Power Machine and a Mean Machine for these shots.

I'll take it a week at a time. I have no idea on what the pattern will be on Wednesday. I can call on Tuesday to find out.

Hey Randy,

I suggested the same for directdrill as well.  If you're on synthetic and they're clean on the backends?....Take a couple of control pieces, 39ft isn't that long and the backs can be very touchy.  This will be pretty much be all you man. Anytime we have clean backends like this, repetition, our speed control and our ability to repeat or execute will present itself.  It shows us where our game is at bud.  Have fun....

I bowled chameleon last week, and it really surprised me. I thought there would be more backend than the scorpion being a shorter pattern and all, but I found that they played much tighter. Even with the clean backends, most of us were only getting 5-7 boards of movement with our strong stuff. I've seen the pba when they bowl on this pattern, and they seem to have some area, but we did not. My freak seemed to do the best throwing straight up 8 or 9.

The backends are touchy if you pull the ball by a board, but if you miss out a board we couldn't get the ball to come back. Usually a washout.

Not much to say here at all.

Got caught up in the hype I guess. Should have just looked at the pattern and concentrated on my execution. I had lousy timing which gave me no leverage at the release. I guess I was used to the house shots. Made me want to THROW it instead of rolling. When I did execute, I used my pin over Rule and that was a readable reaction. 30 at the approach to 17 peak 9. You had to make good shots and be accurate. Spares were not that hard for me on this pattern

Next week, I need to go in there and execute

Some of my new equipment will work nicely I am sure.
