Well the ONE main difference is that the Untamed is reactive, the Super Freak is particle. The RG is higher on the Super Freak. Higher differential on the Untamed.

Well, just a hunch, but I'd say just as a general rule of thumb the Untamed will go considerably longer, and snap harder, whereas the Super Freak arcs. (at least guessing by the coverstocks though)

The Super Freak will handle more oil. As aggressive as the AU may be, the SF will roll earlier for you and handle oil much better then the AU will. Especially when conditions are flooded.

I have owned both balls. The Super Freak is a higher load particle with a weaker weight block. The SF is for people with slower ball speeds and big hook players. The Untamed is a reactive Mutant (a lot of Track fans wanted this) and my favorite ball. It is a skid/flipper that has a little mid-lane roll to it. Carries way better than my Inferno and I liked that ball. This is (and I mean it) the best carrying ball that I have owned and I try a lot of product. Got a 5X3 drilling w/ weight hole 1/2" below PAP on VAL - mass bias 4" positive axis point. The Super Freak also needs a ton of oil, if I were you I'd go with the Untamed. Let me know how you make out, I'll pass it on to Del.

Overall....the Animal Untamed is a more versatile ball. It can be used on alot of oil as long as you match the coverstock grit to the condition you will be using it on. Unless you adjust the coverstock accordingly I do not see it being much of a skid/flip ball. It reads the midlanes far too well to be a skid/flip.

The Super Freak is a particle and more of an Arc type reaction. I have seen a few drilled up with longer layouts and they did not work well. Drilled to roll early...it is an excellent heavy oil ball. The core is weaker than the core in the A.U.


All in all----my opinion the Untamed would be used much more.....but sand the Super Freak down to like 600 grit and use it as a tournament ball when you have heavy oil. If you do not face the heavy stuff that much atleast it will be there when you do.

Box surface with an aggressive enough layout, yes definately medium/heavy. With the box finish it would have difficulty performing on the heavy stuff. It will cover med-med/heavy for you very well.
