What Ball???
« on: April 13, 2006, 08:43:34 PM »

I have a need for a new ball and need help on what to get, at the moment I have the Agressive and the Angular both great balls. My problem is that my home centre lanes do not suit either ball well, the pattern is medium oil about 36-38ft but the backends are not good, I don't think its a carrydown problem just poor backends. My Aggressive is too strong and burns out while the Angular struggles to turn the corner and drive to the pocket well.I'm a stroker about 15mph med revs. What I need is a ball to fit in the middle that will get down the lanes but still be able to turn the corner and hit.I was looking at maybe the Arsenal Reactive or Artillery but am open to other suggestions. Both my current balls are drilled pin under ring cg 45deg out weight hole on pap. What drill would fit the new ball best or would the same drill work well here. The 2 I have are great balls I just need to bridge the gap.
Thanks for reading and any replies.

Before going out and buying a new ball, I would suggest playing with the cover of the Aggressive. I had the same problem when I got bought both of theses pieces. You would be amazed at what just a light coat of polish will do to your Aggressive.

Artillery!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ball will start up early enough to get hooking to where you wont have problems with the backend being tight. With this ball, you could even put the pin above the ring finger with the same cg location and it would roll very well. The reactive, though starting up, tends to have problems with angle on the backend. The reactive is a constant roll, while the artillery has some bite to it when it makes the turn. I think you'd love it.

After looking at the Track website would the xception 5.0 be a good fit, although its another particle and I'm not sure having all particle is a good idea, but looking at the numbers as a rough guide it seems to fit between the others for length but has more on the backend potentially, drilled possibly pin over ring cg out 45deg.As balls are so expensive over here it's important to get it right when buying so thats why all the questions. Thanks.

Hey Alan, nothing wrong with asking...that's why we're here.  As a shop owner, I never want a customer to be unsatisfied either.  I'd also agree that the Artillery would be a good fit in there, drilled similar to your other two should be fine.  I also get the same reaction from the Artillery and Arsenal Reactive as Eric has stated.  Hope this helps some....

HELP!!! I've spoke to my proshop guy who is also a friend today and ordered my Artillery, but he's not sure they have arrived in the UK yet and if not the company who supplies them won't order them until they do a new stock order when they sell some of thier current stock. The delay could be a couple of months .If this is the case what other ball would fit where I need it to help overcome my problem with the lanes I bowl on.Thanks again for any replies.

As an After thought would a Rule Delta 1 drilled Pin over ring cg out 45deg with the surface taken to 1200 grit be a viable option.
