Tag Team Coaching Tip....Summer Practice
« on: June 02, 2007, 11:20:43 PM »
Hey there Legion and non-Legion members (but will be right?),

It's that time again..summer...(great feeling being out of school, isn't it?)

Carl and I usally offer some tips for summer practice so here we go.  For some of you Tag Team loyalists, you may have seen this and I apologize but there are many new members here that could still make use of this info.

To help tie in visually with what you do physically when releasing a ball, place a piece of tape (contrasting in color to the ball) vertically above your fingers on centerline and one piece vertically below your thumb on centerline (usually white tape is fine).

What this will show you is two things very easily...your "tilt" and "axis rotation".  You can also practice on changing your release but now you'll get a visual of what it looks like rolling down the lane compared to what you "felt" you did at the foul line.  Very important people...many times what we "think" we do and what we "actually" do are two different things.  This tape motion "will" show us how we are throwing the ball "exactly"!

Hope this suggestion helps improve your game and always feel free to contact Tag Team Coaching for any further assistance, thank you.

this works very well.  rick showed this to me some time ago and it has really helped visually when i was learning how to raise and lower my track with various hand positions.  it was instant feedback right after release.

Works like a charm, though I follow tape movement while my ball is in the air

I usually pick up the practice pace as time grows nearer to the Winter Season!  Right now, it's practice bowling and modified fastpitch softball

so let me get this straight.....

one tape between the fingers going up (away) and one tape below the thumb going down (away)?

Exactly lil bro...vertically offers the better visual with the amount of flare some of us can have these days with certain pieces.

It really does help people, it will help you understand what we mean by "tilt" and "axis rotation" when we try and help you with your own game.  Video of this from individuals would even be better...
