DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE COVERSTOCK FOR THE TANTRUM IS A PEARL OR A SOLID?
THANKS,
SDSTREET

From the pix I've seen, it looks like either a pearl or hybrid coverstock. One of my pet peeves with Ebonite. As far as they're concerned it doesn't matter, as far as most bowlers go, it does.

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT THE PICTURES TOO. I MYSELF WOULD PREFER A POLISHED SOLID RIGHT NOW.

-

The only Pearl ball coming from track is the Kinetic Pearl. The Tantrum is a solid as well as the Up-Rising.

This quote is straight off the news on the Track website from 6/5/08.
"Its fiery Red/Gold/Silver cover with pearl essence added for looks only is hot on the lanes and on the shelves."
It is a solid with pearl essence for looks only. Guessing it will probably have a pearlish look to it but that is where the pearlness ends.

dude no offense but is ur caps lock button stuck??? u don't have to type in caps to get our attention

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

I think you have it backwards. Ball companies use pearlization to help create specific types of reactions. Pearlization (or not) is an essential part of the coverstock formulation and therefore a critical aspect of ball design.
Bowlers want "goes long and turns hard". On heavy oil, no less. If the ball is a pearl, a particle, a solid, or whatever, bowlers in general don't care. As Jeff would say, they (think they) buy a ball reaction, not simply a pearl or particle or solid reactive.
It's easy to get the impression that most bowlers care whether it's a pearl or a solid or a hybrid because by and large, most (active) folks on this site actually do care. Or at least, they think they should care. But we represent a pretty small minority of "most bowlers".

NJStroker,
My bad about the caps lock. I'm in and out of different programs and some require my caps lock to be on.

So I would assume the look would be similar to Total NV, a solid that has a pearl look.
Total NV is pearl though.. The NVD that is coming out is the first solid in that line..

I am pretty sure the Total NV is just a highly shined solid with a pearl look.
The NVD is the only solid besides the original NV in that line. Hit the Ebonite forum up for that.

Here's the 411
The Tantrum is a 1000 grit polished solid. It has an additive called pearl essence. It has no reactionary influence at all. It is for look's and shelf appeal only. It definately does a great job at that.
It would only be a Pearl if it had our Performance Pearl Additive. This would make the ball go 3ft longer if it had it in it.

Although the Tantrum is a solid, do not allow yourself to be fooled....it turns over in the backend. So if you want an idea of the reaction incase you have not seen it: It rolls very simliar to the Temper, but it turns over harder when it encounters friction. Many of us have stated how the Temper was very smooth and even rolling...you get that out of the Tantrum, but in a ball that creates more area on the lane.
