Tantrum or Kinetic Pearl
« on: December 18, 2008, 05:21:33 AM »
Which one of these balls is stronger of the two, which handles more oil than the other.

I am thinking of picking 1 of these up for a good price.

Would one of these fit inbetween a pin up 5x3 cell pearl and a Pin under bridge rico drilled 5 1/2 X 4 1/2 Bruns Swarm.

Thing is my Cell pearl is most of the time to strong even at 4000 polished, and my Swarm is good for more direct playing, but with the drill suffers when i have to move in.

Anyone have any comments on this? thanks

So the tantrum being a solid is longer than the pearl kinetic. I have seena kinetic pearl thrown with someone who's syle is somewhat similar, i tend to have more pronounced move out of my equipment than he does. But the ball looks good in his hands, and it carries well.

The Kinetic pearl will be $25 dollars more, so that is something that i am looking at. I am thinking is it worth the $25 extra.

Uf i went kinetic, it wouldn't come close to my cell pearl in regards to strength would it?

anyone? I am just not wanting the kinetic pearl to overlap with the cell pearl, which in my eyes is the strongest pearl ever to be released.

Oh and when laying out either one of these. Would you lay it out using the CG or MB, because the MB is so weak at .08. it seems it would be better to lay out using the CG

Hey LaneHammer, I have both the Tantrum and Kinetic Pearl layed out the same way.  Pin is above my middle finger and the mass bias is just right of my thumb.  With my PAP it comes out to 5 inches to the pin and about 4 to the mass bias.  The Tantrum is about 3-4 boards stronger with my feet.  I normally go to the Kinetic Pearl when the lanes start to get pretty dry.  The Tantrum is really a sneaky strong type of ball.  It reminds me alot of the old V2 pearl because of the low r.g.  The Tantrum wants to rev up very quickly whereas the Kinetic Pearl will get you down the lane easier.  With all of that being said, I like the Kinetic Pearl better for my game.  It seems to be more forgiving.  That is not to say the Tantrum is a bad ball because it is not.  I have had some very big sets with the Tantrum, but I find it to be more condition specific for my game.  So, I don't think you would have any problems with the Kinetic Pearl overlapping with your Cell Pearl and I would go with the mass bias to your PAP over the c.g.  Hope this helps you out.

Originally, I thought the same thing.  I expected the Tantrum to be weaker than the Kinetic Pearl.  But, the Kinetic Pearl is just much easier for me to get down the lane than the Tantrum.  The Tantrum being a little lower r.g. is one of those sneaky strong balls for me.  So much of it has to do with individual styles etc.  What hooks for me may or may not hook for you and so on.  But, I really like both pieces of equipment and throw them quite often as I normally don't need any of the stronger stuff such as the Uprising or Rising S.E.
