Did anyone else hear the commentators say that WRW, Jr. has been unhappy with his ball reaction and carry this season?

From my perspective, I'd love to bowl the scores he does and be "unhappy" with my equipment!!  Can you imagine what will happen when he is "happy" with it?

Anyway, once again I must make it clear that I am definitely not an authority nor am I in any position to question him, but WHY didn't he make a move with his line or make any other changes (ball, maybe) when his Xception was reacting too strongly (lots of high shots and pocket shots that were too strong...see 4-9 leave)???  I know one of the commentators (could have been Marshall Holman) said that WRW liked to make changes with his hand (release, I suppose) instead of moving.  Can one of you "gurus" explain why he would rather make changes this way???

Because that is his primary skill set.
It is what has earned him $3.5 Million and 40 titles. I would tend to go with what works.

I think, with 20/20 hindsight, that he might have done better with a milder ball, like a CrunchTime or a Slash, but who am I to secondguess the 2nd or 3rd best bowler in the history of our sport. (WRW ranks among Earl Anthony and Don Carter as the best to ever play this sport, in my mind.)

True, no one can argue with success...40 titles and $3.5 mill. means he's doing something right! LOL  And as I said, I am no authority on this matter.

But, going to a milder ball was what I was thinking as well.  He wasn't afraid to do that last year going from a Phenom Unleashed to a CrunchTime when the PU was too much.  Why hasn't he made that sort of change at anytime this season during the TV matches?

The week he won, he didn't need to change...the Xception was perfect for that shot.  The week he lost, he was getting too strong of a reaction from his Rule but continued to throw it...same as he did today with the Xception.

And another question, I read where his drill pattern for the week he won with the Xception was very strong.  If he was using same said pattern today with the Xception and it was too much ball, could a weaker drilling with the same ball given him a better reaction, or at least kept him in the pocket?  I noticed today that the pin was located below the bridge but couldn't see where the MB was.

I agree, he is one of the greatest of all time and has always been one of my favorites (I remember watching him win his first title on TV in 1986).  I was just hoping he would have/could have made a change that could have given him a chance to win #41, especially at the Earl Anthony tournament.

It would not surprise me if the preference for change in hand position as opposed to moving is closely related to his success in the horseshoe tossing realm.

I would have loved to see a Duke/Williams match.

The "kids" have been beating the older guys lately. Several 2nd place finishes for Voss, Duke and Williams. (Yes, Williams did win his 40th.)

Still waiting for Brad Angelo to win; how much longer can he be denied ...

one thing i noticed today is how different pattern B looked as far as the lines guys were playing.  if you watched WRW, i think his comments on not being happy with his reaction stemmed directly from the fact that the shot he was attacking was in an area where they normally never play.  they even admitted the lanes were slicker than normal, but it looked like WRW wasnt willing to move deep like duke.  i give duke alot of credit for making a drastic change, because even wolfe was starting to get an erratic look during the final.  if WRW had moved inside where the other three were playing, i think the lanes might have opened up a little more for him than playing straight up the edge in an erratic flood.  either way, congrats to wolfe for his 1st, to duke for another great performance, and to angelo for making those splits. WRW should get earl in the very near future.

I have to agree with every single post, WRW could've switched to something alittle less agressive. VT_Turkey, wasn't that a "CRASH" WRW was using when he loss to Rick Lawrence instead of a RULE? I seen it on the tape...I'll take another look some time, no disrespect to you though, I could be mistaken...

Anyways, WRW will be making history before the season is over I believe...

WRW had a different drilling on the Xeption yesterday....the one a few weeks ago was a pin next to ring, ...yesterday it was under his ring....may have made a difference....but then again....depends on where the mb was too....

I went back and watched it as well, and upon further review, you may be right on WRW rolling a Crash.  I was never able to get a good look at it but I did notice the "silver" engraving in the Track logo.  The ball just looked very dark, more of a dull brownish color than the polished red/purple like my ball...must have it sanded down some...I guess that is why I thought it was a Rule.

he was throwing a crash that he sanded and he should have change balls maybe to a poilshed balls or move left and try to hook it a little.
