Mini Review: X-Ception!!!!
« on: November 22, 2004, 12:15:17 AM »
I have drilled up 2 of these, and I am gleaming with the reaction they are giving me. My usual stats, track is high (1/2 inch or less away from fingers and thumb, 18 MPH, etc). First X-Ception is drilled with my favorite drilling, pin just tucked under the ring finger, cg in the palm, mass bias about an inch left of my thumb in my track. Ball rolls smooth, then has a nice backend reaction on fresh shots. Ball is strong enough to kick 10s from inside angles on fresh shots, as long as I have some backends to work with. As I saw with the Untamed, carrydown can start to affect the ball's reaction. Compared to my Rule that is polished with this same drilling, the Rule wants to roll sooner and does not have as much kick as the X-ception, which is exactly where it is supposed to fit in. On the second X-ception, I was going to take down the surface, but decided against it. Put the pin next to my ring and stacked the cg and mass bias under it, about a 4x4 drilling for me. Ball was stronger the the first X-ception I drilled and seemed to have just as nice of move on the backend. This ball didn't seem to like carrydown either, although it did not seem as touchy on the backend as the first one. I am left wondering if taking a little of the shine off would help this situation. OVERALL, a GREAT ball when the conditions dictate. There are better choices for heavier oil, but that is NOT what this ball was made for. DO NOT make the mistake of using this ball on conditions it was not meant for, as some people do and then get a bad impression about a ball.
