Title: Test balls
Post by: BornToBowl on October 02, 2004, 11:25:52 AM
How do people receive balls from company for them to test? I mean do they just send you balls? I hear people say this so and so company send me a bowling ball to test. And does that mean they get to keep the ball? Please fill me in.

thanks,
Patrick

Only people that really get to test balls are already on staff with that company or are "free agents" that a certain company might be trying to recruit.

I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.
Now that I am back and my Saws are sharp again, I am ready to cut some wood.

Hey Patrick,

What test balls are you referring to, pre-production or post production?  There are a very small handful sometimes that actually get pre-made balls to test to see if the coverstocks match the cores well or are you referring to seed balls that are given to staff members/pro shops and so on?  I used to get seeds from various companies, still do from time to time to see how well they react and if they live up to expectations.  Some of these balls don't have true labels and are not meant for retail, strictly testing.  Then I'd have to write a report and send it back to the manufacturer with my findings and opinions.

In order to receive these seed/test balls, you normally have to be 1) a very good or versatile bowler 2) decent volume shop owner

It's pretty hard for a manufacturer these days to just hand out "freebies" to everyone who asks due to cost efficiency of the process.  You may want to post this in the misc forum to get more responses but if you're strictly looking to try Track equipment, feel free to submit your resume on line at Trackbowling.com
Don't know where you are but I know we're looking to expand in our international market.  Hope this helps and good luck....
