What is the equivalent of the Revmaster
« on: February 20, 2004, 10:19:00 AM »
I have a Revmaster that I used on a dried out broken up shot on my Thursday night men's league. It is the perfect ball for this league. My old Revmaster is pretty dead now. I can not find anyone with new Revmasters. What ball is the approximate equivalent of the Revmaster. Does anyone have any input?

Tenpinrufer...

Love it but it is so seldom used that I would be happy to sell it.......if interested. Hits like a truck on steroids...just can't find enough oil here for it...

I own one, but I have been dissapointed with it. I bought it to arc more, but in typical Track fashion the ball goes very long before it explodes. It also reacts poorly to over/under condition. Probably a great ball under the right condtion. I have the oil to use it, but once carry down takes place, the ball becomes skippy.

I have so many balls I do not remember. The pin just right and above the ring finger. I believe it is drilled for max hook. Although I am not positive about the counterweight hole. What do you mean by giving it more surface?

take scotch brite and dull up the surface to say 600 grit or so....so will grab earlier....

pin above like that will cause the ball to go longer...if want early roll...put the pin below fingers...kick cg right...and mb out right..and will give you really early roll..

Hey Tenpin,

The closest I got to my RevMaster was the CrunchTime drilled weak, pin above bridge and cg kicked out about 3 inches.  This gave me very early mid lane read and arcing backend.

I also understand what you mean on the Mutant, if the surface adj that Srlunatic suggested does not work, I'd recommend plugging and redrilling to a  earlier rolling layout(as Srlunatic recommends, but place the mb in or past val) as I did because I also got the reaction you did, it was a little o/u for me too unless I used it on a overall drier condition.  Hope this helps and feel free to contact me personally if you need further assistance.

Hi Rick,
Thank you for the help. Does your shop have any Revmasters left? Also, how do you feel about buying old (un-used) equipment. Doesn't the resin eventually naturally harden making resin balls act differently (less agressive) than when they were newer? Please advise.
Thank you!

Hey Tenpin,

Sorry, I'm also out of RevMasters but it looks like a few of the other replies may be able to help you.  In regards to older non-used resin balls hardening..?  I couldn't tell you for sure.  One thing that may also give the appearance of a older ball not hooking as much is due to the fact that the oil densities have changed and continue to change over the course of time, they continue to get thicker.  Any resin ball from 3 years ago used today will not appear to hook as much now as it would have back then, not sure if this is what you're seeing.  Pls contact me directly in regards to the purchasing of older equipment.  Hope this helps explain some...thanks.
