please help! i haven't had a track ball since the original stomp, i've been using storm and hammer the last few years. i generally like to play down and in, but i can cover boards also. my specs are in my profile and i bowl at two centers, one gauardian overlay, one wood. also do tournaments throughout the year. we'll start with a 3 ball set then maybe suggestions to fill gaps? thanks for any help. p.s. the arsenal series looks impressive to me!

Hey stop,

Based on your downward vertical movement of 3/4, this should mean that you are inverted and tend to get most balls into a quicker roll, am I correct in this conclusion? If I am, I've had much better success with my inverted customers with balls that are a little skid/flippy by nature because they help offset some of your early to stronger roll.

I'd have to agree with my tag team partner Excaliber on the choices of the Rule Delta 1 and the Solution EX but I like the Angular in the middle for med lite oil. Hope this helps some...

Personally, I hated the Delta and I'm not fond of the X 5.0 either. The PP EX seems like a nice choice, though...

The thing that's getting me is that you can get the Arsenal Reactive, Freak-A-Zoid and Heat or PP EX as an AMAZING 3-ball arsenal and spend a TON less money than you would by wasting your dough on a Delta and a 5.0. Plus I think the AR and the FAZ are much better balls (for me, anyway). Just my opinion.

I will definatly agree that there are some real great balls for a lot less money than the top of the line asymmetrical balls. I feel the arsenal line is the best line Track has right now.

I would also agree 100% with that! The Arsenal Reactive and Aggressive will handle as much oil as the vast majority of us sees IMO plus, they are cheaper than the Delta, Robo, etc! I think the Arsenal series are all around better peices IMO also! Though, that is a subjective statement.

thanks for all the replies! as for your question rick, i don't really know if it's inverted, but the track on my ball is about 1.5 to 2" from my fingerholes, and about 1/2 to 1" from my thumbhole. is that inverted? to give you a little more info, in general the only time i usually have problems is on the dryer side of medium or just plain dry head conditions. if i try to use say a storm hit in dry conditions, trying to give it some room, it doesn't recover. so i was thinking of trying a desert heat for dryer lanes. looks like it has more core than the hit lines, or three piece balls in general. in my area, especially in local tournaments, we don't usually see a lot of oil, so i'm not really worried about that at the moment. but i am really intrigued by the whole arsenal line. only on guy in my area throws track exclusively, and he uses the top line balls. haven't seen anyone locally throw the aresenal series, so maybe i can be the first!

The Desert Heat will give some recovery....definately more than the HIT series. For there to be recovery you have to have DEFINATE dry lanes. The Desert does not move an inch when there is oil present.

I am kind of at a loss to what you are really looking for. You want something for dry.....but you want to try something in the Arsenal Series? I don't think any of those balls are going to work on dry.

The SOlution PP EX is going to give you more recovery than the Desert, but the Solution PP EX can also be pretty strong off of the dry.....maybe too strong for what you are looking.

ex, sorry for confusing you! after going back through what i've written, i've confused myself! alright to make things a little clearer. the three current balls i use now are a columbia drive, storm recharge and a storm hit. what i'm getting is this, all of these balls force me to play the oil line in my scratch league. which is fine i can do that. but where i feel i'm at a disadvantage is when the shot starts to open up. when i'm forced to move inside and belly the ball, i have no confidence in any of these. what i need at the moment is this: 1: a piece that will allow me to move inside with good recovery on the back and 2: a piece that when ball one gets too aggressive, i know ii can pick up and give me a look close to what i had with ball #1. sorry for the confusion! p.s. remember that this center is gaurdian synthetic!

It is my experience with Guardian that the heads and midlanes tend to go pretty quick. Since you have stated you want to start with your weaker ball first and then pick up the stronger piece I would think that your best bet would be the either of the 2.......Desert Heat OR Solution PP EX. The difference is that if you have to move in deep with the heads and mids going (you may not see this on your guardian) the Solution PP EX is going to be better because it is going to finish better through any oil remaining further down the lane. If it all seems to dry up at once, the Desert Heat is the best "solution" to your problem.

oops...sorry, thought it was either way......

No it's not... lol. An inverted track is when the oil rings are closer to your finger holes and further from your thumb.

An inverted Track is not a bad thing at all.

if you are only carrying 3 balls, i cant see why so many people have put the desert heat in the arsenal, it is probably the least versitile ball in the whole range as it is designed to play on very dry lanes

My range would be: Rule Delta 1, Solution powerplus/Heat Blast, Heat/Solution PP EX

You are never going to be able to cover all the condition with 3 balls, but i definately would never carry a desert heat in a 3 ball range

Hey stop,

You may want to re-check your pap because your description of your oil rings do not match that info. Typically when a bowler has a downward movement on his pap's perpendicular axis line, it would mean that the oil rings should be closer to fingers and further away from the thumb. Your description of your oil rings are completely the opposite of that.

No, there's nothing to be concerned about. However, our pap does tell a ball driller how you roll the ball to a certain degree which then affects how we will lay that ball out for you to achieve a desired reaction.

I also like the Solution EX for you to fit into your current arsenal. It fills the void between your Recharge and Hit (pretty big gap in there). Now sure how old or beat up your Guardian is, if it wasn't maintained and/or treated properly, it can dry up and start cracking (seen that happen also). Guardian also tends to make a ball roll earlier. If a ball rolls a little too early, it is not storing or conserving enough energy for it to recover on the backend so that is why you may be seeing that your balls don't have a lot of finish to them when the lanes dry up. This is just one possible explanation because your rotation angle can also be a cause of this and I don't have that info. Hope this helps explain some...
