I don't see much about the original "green" Machine around here, but I wanted to give it some props.
I originally purchased my Machine late last season, and got to use it for the first time in a tournament over the summer. It's drilled pin over and right of ring with the MB at about 45° or 3-4" right of thumb. When I threw it in the tournament I wasn't too impressed. It seemed jumpy sometimes, and squirty others. It was an unfamiliar condition though so I was having trouble getting a read on the lanes.
In my leagues though, this thing was a beast. Lots of recovery, and pretty consistent. It is the first ball out of my bag every night. However, I was still battling some over/under with it, and over time it seemed to tame a bit.
A couple weeks ago I decided to give it a bath and do some surface work (by hand mind you). So I hit it with a green pad, and let it soak for a while to get the oil out. After that I hit the ball with some Reacta-shine (storm product). The ball looked a bit more gritty than it did out of box, so I was skeptical on what the results would be.
I was amazed at the results! The ball is so predictable now, has about the same length as it did OOB, more backend, and more read in the midlane! No more over/under, no more squirting through the break, just a consistent hard arc. It also handles a bit more oil, so I've had to move in a couple boards to stay in the oil longer, which isn't an issue since that's my preferred line. I really can't put this ball down now.
I don't know if those of you with Machines have tried a similar surface, but I'd definitely recommend you try it if you are having trouble with over/under.
