The Rising - Mini Review!
« on: June 24, 2008, 12:05:42 PM »
I have this ball, and will be getting it drilled up tomorrow night! I posted a different topic about this ball and how to drill it before, since it's a x-blem, 5-6" pin, 2oz top weight ball.

While talking to Carl, (who was very nice talking to, BTW!) we came up with a layout. This layout will get the ball to read the midlane good, yet give it a good snap off the dry. Not a huge skid/flip snap, not a big huge arc, just a hard move off the dry. The layout we decided on will be this:

Pin 4 1/2 inches from my PAP, 1 inch from VAL, and placing the MB 2 1/2- 3 inches from my VAL.

This will sure be interesting. Carl also noted i'd probably be one of the first people to ever place this layout on The Rising. I'll post back tomorrow night with a mini-review of this ball! I seriously can't wait. I've been dying to try out some new Track equipment, and this is my chance!

I'll update this post I made tomorrow night with a review + picture!

damn i knew i should've called CARL even though i was at the hospital. He had a layout for me and i think this was it but i wasn't able to call when he wasn't swamped. i drilled mine 4X3 and i like it a lot. it worked very well on the chameleon shot.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

This is VERY similar to the layout I used. I think I had 5 inch pin versus 4.5, same distance from VAL and my MB is in a slightly weaker position. It should react VERY nice for you.

i was there the first time nj threw his rising it was pretty nice good roll the only thing that is restricting him from saying he loves it alot is the fact that now his span is actually correct and not like an inch and a half small so until he gets the feel for this correct span and not grab it at the bottom he will really like this ball alot more like he said it rolled really nice for the chamelion

Glad to hear you guys are having success with the Rising. I tried it and just didn't match up that well unless the pattern was very long. It was great when the conditions allowed it be used effectively (what ball isn't though) but it ended up being too condition specific for me.

I did sell it to a kid and he is just killing with it, the ball just flat out works great for him, a lefty tweener, layout for him is 4.5 x 4.5 pin up.

Guys, I just got back from throwing my Rising, and...

This is flat out a GREAT piece of equipment. I thank Carl Hurd, of CG Proshop, for the drilling recommendation to suit my needs from this ball.

We laid this ball out for it to read the midlane, still push and give a hard move off the dry. This ball did exactly that. I don't know how Carl did it, but he gave me the exact layout that made this ball money in my hands. The hit of this ball is extremely hard, and I actually left/almost left a few 9 pins! Some of them were smacked by some random pin, though. Haha. Another great thing about this ball is that it doesn't highly overreact if I send it in the dry too soon! Some shots it pushed a little extra for it to get to the 1-3, and some shots it dove.. This ball also flares a TON, too. I haven't thrown a ball with this much flare since my ole' Mean Machine!

Overall, what a great piece. I'm gonna give it about 50-75 games to see if I have truly fallen back on Track.

EDIT: Pic!
