Random Track Thoughts...Part 2
« on: July 13, 2006, 05:01:32 PM »
HEY FASTTRACKERS!

What you are about to read below is my second installment of Random Track Thoughts...Part 2! If you read the first part of this thread, I went into great detail about Track's semi-latest releases in the High Performance Asymmetrical equipment. Tonight, I'm going to chime in with my thoughts on how I perceived the Arsenal series! So without further a do, away we go!

Arsenal Artillery -- I only had one of these. This one was drilled with a 4" Pin Below the Ring Finger with the CG kicked out about 2" with a weight hole 1" below PAP. If you have watched the video (http://media.putfile.com/Arsenal-Artillery-Video-Package89) then some of you may have noticed how much snap it had on the backend. Once again, almost same as the Machine, this ball began to stop hooking. The GOO LS coverstock I thought would be much more forgiving with a symmetrical core inside of it. Plus, I really thought I would be able to open the lane up and not have to worry about whether or not it was coming back to the pocket or not. I sold this one to a guy I bowl with on my scratch league nights and he has taken to Track's equipment very well. The Artillery is not that bad of a ball, I honestly would have loved to seen the GOO LS and the symmetrical morpheus core put together instead of the RevMaster core. For some reason this core doesn't agree with my style. In conclusion, from the time I posted my review on March 24 of this year for the Artillery, I still feel the same way about it. At the current time when I sold the ball, it was the right thing to do!

Arsenal Reactive -- I had 3 of these bad boys! It has been almost 10 months since I posted my review on the first AR I had. I was definitely impressed with how it covered boards on the lane and how much a symmetric ball could actually hook. I've always shown alittle favoritism towards Reactives because they are not as what I would like to call 'needy'. I know that probably sounds like an uncharacteristic word for a ball; however, reactives have always been predictable for me when used in league or tournaments. I ended up selling my first one to Michael Bradford (TheOriginalChewmiester) because once this ball was oil soaked, the ball called it quits on me. Some good news is that Bradford still possesses this ball and is getting quite abit of use with it as well! I purchased my second one about 2 months later after the initial post. I wanted to see what this ball was like with Pin Above because the first one was Pin Below. The AR didn't handle anything well with the Pin Above the Ring Finger layout. In this video of me comparing the Angular with the Reactive (http://media.putfile.com/MPBOWLINGMOVIEV5) you will see my point. The ball didn't have very much backend pop as the first one with the Pin Below layout. It also didn't cover as many boards as the first one either! I sold this one to Willie (BR User ThaGin) and in turn he sold it to Evolution Tag Team Member # 6 Ronnie Goodloe! Ronnie is still getting wonderful use from this ball! Finally, the third one came my way because they were discontinuing them and I found one on closeout. I really didn't wanna give this one up without knowing for sure whether it was just me or if it just wasn't the right ball for me. I had it laid out with a 4 1/4" Pin Below the Ring Finger with the CG stable. No Weight Hole was necessary. I put about 10-20 games on this one before I finally gave up completely and sold it to one of my youth bowlers I coach on the weekends. I was very impressed with the first one; however, the next two just didn't fit in with my game! On a funny note however, anybody I've sold any ball I've used before has benefitted tremendously! At least some good came out of this for me! LOL!

Arsenal Angular -- The Angular had a close pin placement so my layouts were limited. I went with the Pin Below once again and to be honest, this wasn't a favorite of mine but I wanted to throw it because I never had one before. This has been my only one I've ever thrown. It was very snappy on the backend which is what I liked about it best! In conclusion, I wouldn't purchase another one because the 5.0 fills my need as far as particle pearls go!

Arsenal Aggressive -- In the beginning, what a hook monster this was and if you read the review I posed initially, you'll see that I was very impressed. I even had this one laid out with a 5 X 5 Pin Above the Ring Finger layout. The amazing thing was, this ball was more 'Aggressive' than the Pin Below 'Angular'! The only downside to the Aggressive is that once I polished it, this ball would NOT hook for me! It didn't have a chance after an alteration. Even scuffing it with a grey scotchbrite didn't work wonders! This is why I am always against altering coverstocks. I believe whatever the OOB they originally had it at, is exactly what it was intended for. So if you needed an Aggressive, then really you must've needed a ball that hooked a ton with a fair price tag! Before alteration, I really loved the Aggressive and would go on record to say this was one of the biggest hook balls in Track's symmetric history! Unless you have a ton of hand and can't control the dullness in it, I wouldn't touch the coverstock of this bad boy. I would purchase another one if they were still available or if I could find one NIB!

Thank you guys very much for reading this post and I hope this was very helpful in making decisions about which Track equipment would fit right for your game! If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them for you! God Bless You and have a great week!

Michael, are you saying that the Machine stops hooking? If so, that is the same  problem I had with the Xception 5.0 and I have a Machine that I haven't drilled yet and am thinking about selling it because of fear that it will do that. (stop hooking)

Hey Brick,

Buddy, I have talked to Rick about my concerns about the Machine just stopping from hooking completely and in some ways and areas we both felt that way concerning his as well. I did some stuff to it; however, and it hooked but the hitting power just wasn't there! Threw 10 shots with it after treating it and 9 out of those 10 were ten pins! As far as the X-Ception 5.0, if you were to ask me back when I got my first one, I would've said the ball didn't fit like I thought it would. Now that I have my third one drilled, this ball has been the one out of the bag first everytime league night rolls around. The Machine is where the 5.0 was a year ago. I'm hoping the second one I get will NOT do the same thing. If I were you, I would give it a try, it couldnt hurt buddy... I really liked the Machine when I first got it! God Bless You and have a great week!

i think that impression of the machine to stop hooking, is somewhat truthful. I have had one for about 3 months, and the first time OOB, i killed it, threw a 753 series first 3 games.. now, 3 months later, i find it lacking that backend and nice roll. it still hits like a truck although.

Michael, my Machine is 14# and not sure if you would want it at that weight or not if I decide to sell it. When I chose the Machine, I was under the impression that it was reactive and then found out afterwards that it has the same cover as the 5.0 of which I hated.

Brick,

Now remember buddy, the X 5.0 has the GOO LS with a light load of Fang in it. The Machine is Fang LS, it has no GOO LS in it what-so-ever. Different coverstocks by far. However, I find this coincidential about my post of the Machine and here are about 4-5 other people stating the same findings as me with the Machines. As far as it being 14#, nevermind dude! Too light for me! LOL! Anyways, let us know what you do with it! God Bless You and have a great week!

I have seen NO loss of reaction in the Machine at all. I have MANY games on each of them (I have 2) and I have not lost reaction.

Michael had his rejuvinated...The only thing I have done to the surface of either my Machines is clean them with Clean n Dull OR Clean n Tacky (using the method I preach about with scotchbrites).

Hey Carl,

Do you believe the Machine you got came from a different batch of Machines than from the ones Rick, myself, and some others on here have received? Rick brought something up concerning that so I was just wondering dude! Thanks! God Bless You All and have a great week!

Michael,

That is very possible. Do you still clean your equipment using the method that I spoke of?

Hey Carl,

I've been using the Power Wash and a towel cloth to clean my stuff buddy! Using any type of scotchbrite stuff I'm afraid will kill any ball. This has only worked on the first Robo Rule I had! It took to stuff you mentioned very well! God Bless You and have a great week!

Huh?????....Track maybe has a Quality Control problem? I though that Brunswick was the only company to have that type Quality Control problem.

HEY FASTTRACKERS!

I believe this maybe blown alittle bit out of proportion so let me settle the dust!

When I first got the Machine, it was a very smooth and continuous ball and although in my eyes didn't have quite the pop I have seen in some of Track's other releases, it was enough to make that turn back to the pocket and leave 10 in the pit. After I noticed that it wasn't hooking as much as it was when I got it in the beginning, I took it to the rejuvenator. This process worked on my Robo Rule, so I thought the same would come of the Machine. This wasn't so, so I had it plugged and redrilled and seeked advice from Rick. I then took his advice of a burgundy and some Clean 'N' Sheen and gave that a try. The ball in this state hooked, but the hit at the pins was very weak and I couldn't carry the 10 pin. I threw 10 shots and 9 out of 10 of those were weak 10s. Then, per advice from Mr. Del Warren himself, I took a burgundy to it followed by a white scotch brite and tried it out. This ball over/undered for me and I couldn't get the ball to recover at all. From my experiences, this ball didn't take well to changing covers.

Brick,

As far as whether or not Carl got a different batch is what it was, I was just asking a question, I wasn't saying "yes that is what happened" I asked as if it may have been a possibility. So I don't believe Track has any quality control problems either!

Brian,

As I said in the inital posting of my findings with the Machine, I'm NOT saying nor did I ever say that the Machine would die. All I said was that I felt it wouldn't take to changing covers very well because of how many times I have altered it and the results that have come from afterwards. Every bowler has a different style and some of us have to alter based on our style. It just so happens that a bowler of my style, altering a cover just doesn't work in my book.

Hopefully this has cleared up all the air and I'm very sorry for the mass confusion.

God Bless You All and have a great week!
