Title: Thinking about getting a Track Slash for my first ball.
Post by: MrEcted on August 15, 2006, 07:23:58 AM
Just wanted opinions... good first choice? This will be my only ball for a little while if I do decide on this one. I've heard good things, what do you guys say? I'm trying to find the best ball I can for less then $80.00 and I found this one new, shipped for $69.99.

Thanks!

Hey MrE, (Welcome to the Track forum)

The Slash is a very good ball to start with.  It has been a favorite to many as their "benchmark" ball or first ball out of the bag.  It is a good start because there are pieces stronger then that and pieces weaker then that so it sits in the med oil range very well.

After you get started back in the game some, you can then decide what direction you'll need to go from the conditions you're encountering, whether needing more or less hook.  This is usually what I recommend in my shop to customers just getting started in the game or returning to it. Best to start off with a medium piece.  Good luck and welcome back...

PS. Nice profile...now I know to ask for different barbecue techniques.

I don't think you could go wrong with a $70 Slash.

actually i was wrong... not free shipping on this ball, it's like $90 after shipping... really trying to stay under the $80.00 mark... Thanks!

And tenpinspro, i would be more then happy to share recipes/techniques!

MrE,

I agree with Rick. I had one last year. Great first ball out of the bag on most mediums. Coverstock is also tweakable. If you have some extra cash, go for it!

I still don't think you could go wrong with it.  The Slash is worth every bit of $90 and then some.  I've heard nothing but good stuff about it and a smooth solid reactive with a strong core will be a very, very versatile ball.

Excellent pick for a first Track ball. In many a sport league or tournament when I needed something for that tougher shot (usually mediums with weird back end reaction) the Slash would be the strongest and most consistent performer out of my bag. Let us know how things go once you get it.

Spend the extra $10...you will not be disappointed. The Slash was very predictable and smooth throughout the lane.

On Bowlingball.com they have Track Freak A Zoids for 69.99 INCLUDING SHIPPING. They have 100 in-stock. That would keep you under your number and be another great benchmark ball.

The Slash is a great ball, and very versatile. I have seen two in different hands (never threw one) and on a wide range of consditions, and I was impressed with this piece. Great value for the money, and the coverstock seems to be easily adjustable. Will cover almost anything except desert and true long flood conditions. Go with it, if the ball is in good shape!
