Super Freak compared to the Mutant and Freak

I talked with a ball rep from Track and he told me that the Freak has more back end then the Mutant and that the Super Freak fits in between the Freak and the Mutant so far as back end.  I thought that with both bals drilled the same, the Mutant had more length and back end then the Freak.  But he also said the strength in the Super Freak is more in the cover then the core/weightblock.  The core/weightblock is stronger (differential difference between balls) in the Freak and the Mutant as compared to the Super Freak.  So what it seems to me is that the Super Freak is weaker at the pins by the weightblock morphues core but stronger due to coverstock.  I don't know if I like this.  I'll drill mone tomorrow if it comes in and compare the three.  The rep said if I drilled it the same as the Freak and Mutant there will be a considerable/measureable difference.

Anyone else with any input?

I only wrote what the rep stated.  I believe if you try and soften the surface of the Super Freak to 1200 or 1500, it will fit better between the Freak and the Mutant, but I honestly believe that the Super Freak is a whole lot more coverstock/surface then either the Mutant ot the Freak.  I have throw my Super Freak about 5 times and I had a regional pro pro shop operator throw it a couple of times and it the speed wasn't kept up, the ball rolled out way too soon in box condition.

Factory Finish: 1500 Smooth

It's not that it's a rougher grit coverstock. It's the fact that it's got such a high load of particles.

You would have to use a polish on this bad boy to get it to fit in between the Freak & Mutant, and at that point you're defeating the whole purpose fo buying the super freak anyway.

Nic said it.  Very aggressive coverstock.  It appears more aggressive than the Mutant.  The RG is about the same as both of the Freak and the Mutant and the differential (flare potential) is smaller.  It appears to be a less angular, more even ball with a stronger coverstock.  Whether it "hooks" as much, I do not know, but I think the cover effectively creates a heavier oil ball.

I'm new to this site in the last 3 or 4 months and I like the fact that you guys know what the hell you're talking about! Get my Super Freak tomorrow night and just to add to the confusion, I just got the latest issue of BJI and Mike Riggins gives the ball an overall hook rating of 77,(one point higher than a Voodoo!??) The ratings for the Freak, Freak Out, and Mutant were 86, 85, and 87.
Overall hook: A rating which combines the amount of flare and hook potential is how they state they determine the rating. This is really confusing!!

Ahh freak, you've fallen into the trap that everyone seems to get confused by. Now days there is a difference between "strength of hook" and boards covered by that hook. I tried to cover the difference in an older post I called Particles 101.http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?CategoryID=5&ForumID=16&TopicID=20852

The super freak will preobably cover less boards than all of those balls, however when the oil starts to get thick & the others begin to lose their turn, the super freak should keep a relatively consistant move.

From my experience with the 3, the Super Freak is the earliest and smoothest of the three. Overall hook is slightly more than both but the Mutant is more angular with the Freak being slightly longer than both.  The Super Freak has a higher particle load (which is why the core had to be weaker) so it needs a little more oil up front to be effective otherwise it's burn city.  I think the heavy handed players would probably favor the Freak because of it's length.
