Torn between Lanemasters and Track
« on: August 12, 2005, 12:08:35 PM »
I have been throwing Lanemasters for a while, and I have been quite successful with them, BUT I threw a friends Animal the other night and OH MY GAWD !!  I have never seen a ball hit and carry like this...  Then after the second game of our 4 game league set I used his Exception 5.0 and it was equally out of this world, then for the last 2 games I threw his polished Slash and the night got even better........  I shot a 978 for 4 games and won some cash.  I WAS VERY IMPRESSED.

My only concern is that with all of the filler in these balls will they suck up oil so fast that they will die after 100 games ??  I am seriously considering switching arsonals, but the lanemaster balls have 100 plus games on them (No filler) and they are still going strong.  BUT, I think these track balls out performed them....

thats where Track Clean N' Dull comes in, keep them clean and they live long, I know a Icetink has a Phenom that has some 250+ games on it and after using the ebonite restoring system it is still going!

Hope you will switch and find out what the hype is about

400+

I also have a Rule, maybe around 250+ games now and still going strong!

It's Friday and I'm at home.  Here's a vid to ease my boredom:

Wow, it is nice to here all of your pasionate responses. I just got back from mu proshop and I bought an exception 5.0. and a Rule Gp2.  I can't wait to try them out tomorrow !!  Thanks again guys...  They did not have any Track cleaner , but I still have plenty of the Lanemaster cleaner.

Any cleaner made for bowling balls should do the job.  A regular cleaning after each session will greatly increase the lifespan of a bowling ball.  Keep us posted with the Track balls, how you're going to drill them, and all the honour scores you'll shoot!

It works just fine.

Clean and Dull is VERY strong; usually for once a month cleaning or unless you bowl on heavy oil with dull balls all the time. Legends cleaner is among the best for daily cleaning, IMO.

Even Mo Pinel says Clean N Dull is the best cleaner on the market today. My original GP2 I have shot 300/800/800 with is still going strong after a TON of games...no rpoblems here with any covers dying on me!

Let us know how you like the stuff!

For all of you using the Clean & Dull with positive results, are you using a spinner when you clean the ball, or are you doing it by hand?  If you've tried it both ways, are the results much better with a spinner?

Regarding cleaning a ball with spinner or by hand,
It's a cleaner not a polisher or a sander. I really don't think you need to use a spinner, even with or especially with Clean & Dull.

Use Clean N Dull after every set. It gets you back to the same point you started. It is not too strong to do so!

Back on topic - I started with Columbia for years, switched to Lanemasters and Track recently. As far as coverstock durability, there is no match for Lanemasters equipment. As for overall performance, well, on this forum, you will get little argument that Track is what it's all about. Having said that, it all depends on your game.

I have had no problems with any Track equipment as long as I clean it VERY regularly. I have had no problems with Lanemasters equipment whether I clean it or not.

I would say at this point I've put on about 150-200 games with the Animal and another 200 with the Rule and felt no loss in terms of performance as long as you keep up on the cleaning after every league/practice/tournament session.
