Track 3-4 ball arsenal
« on: January 23, 2012, 03:55:13 AM »
I have been throwing the same bowling balls for a while now, really was a big fan of Brunswick when they were making the Wild  line ( Wild Ride, Wild Thing, Wild Card). Anyway my equipment has really begin to wear out and i have decided to try Track. I have recently purchased s Track 503c and have found that it hooks alot more than I thought it would, still a great bowling ball though. Anyway i was wondering how i should build a Track 3 ball arsenal. I was thinking about purchasing 2 more Track balls to place with my 503c . I had thought about the new 508a and possibly the 607SE or 811 SE and wondered if any1 could advise me on where they would fit in with my 503c. thankyou

Try the 811a. It is the most popular ball going out of my shop right now. The 607 an 508 have the same core with different covers, just FYI. If you like one, then you'll like the other. If you need weak equipment for dryer shots, the 300c is very smooth. Depending on what condition you bowl on, and your style, these 4 balls will be great to choose from. If you need anymore info feel free to ask. I've thrown all of these balls, and think they are winners.

If it was me I'd go on the Track bowling discussion forum sign up to get an ID and post a topic there in Expert Analysis Track Discussion--Expert Analysis Topics
Be prepared to give your stats.  Ball speed off hand or at backend define which, revs, tilt, axis rotation,  and PAP.
If you don't know these or how to get them.  Help is here..   Your driller if he/she is a pro should be able to give you these stats.  also or approximate them especially PAP.  Also, what types of  conditions you intend to use this equipment on.  Then, I believe you  will get great qualified help.

Just folks coming here and stating what works for them may be totally wrong for you and is a shot in the dark at most even though as well intentioned as most people are.

I only throw track and its a great line. I have not tried any of the A balls because I don't really care for that much angle. I would suggest getting a 300C to go below the 503C. Its actually my favorite track ball that has come out in the last couple of years. The upper end I would go with a 919C or 716C.

Deadwood Pro Shop, would you say the 811a is more aggressive than the 503c? and is the 508A less aggressive than the 503c? Thanks

Jared.
The 811 is definitely more aggressive. It will tv up earlier bc of the strong core and actually start to read as soon as it comes out of the oil. The 508a is still stringer than the 503c. The design of the 503c was to get a ball that would respond more smoothly off of the dry. Hard to believe, right? And the 508a is designed to be above the 503c thanks to the 607 core. I do +1 to the statement about the 300c being a must in any bag

Jared, the 811A is more aggresive in terms with overall hook. But if you knock the shine off of both of them, the 503C will start up sooner. The 811A will cover more boards, but it is definitely one of the cleaniest bowling balls ever. The 508A is cleaner than the 503C, but covers more boards, because of the energy retained. So as far as you having the 503C, to build an arsenal, I would go with an 811A and then maybe a 300C or 300T. Shine the 300T and you will be able to get it through the front when they start to hook. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Curt , my only worries on the 300T is that it would pick up so early. I am most comfortable when i can play straighter and put alot of speed on my bowling ball. I tend to throw it around 19-20 mph, and my feet hardly ever move left of 25, until now with the 503c. But mainly i have found that since the 503 picks up so early I have to throw a deeper line with it. Would I be able to play straighter with the 508? And also does the 300c or 300T seem to hit as hard as a higher performance ball? In my past experiences with low end bowling equipment (Brunswick Avalanche, Columbia Sharp noize,) I have found they do not seem to carry as good as higher performance stuff.

Jared, curt is right on in my opinion.
A lot of people think that the balls are all the same with minor differences bc they have the same first number. In truth, the 503 and 508 have different cores. The last two numbers in the name represent mass bias differential. That is why the 508 has ends in 08. They put a stronger core in the ball from the 607 a se. This change should give more hook overall hook than the 503, largely due to the design and use of the core.

As for the 300t. I like the 300 series. I can average 220s without carry problems when my other stuff hooks too much. Being such a high speed player, you might like the 300t dull rather than shiny. Couldn't hurt to toss it a few times dull.

Jared for me I never match up to the 300 series line just for the fact that I can't get the ball to do what I want. The 300T is really good on medium to medium dry fresh lanes. Once they start to hook the 300T wants to read too early. You can shine it to help get the ball to retain more energy. But honestly if the 503C is too much, the only option really is to get a 300 series ball or drill the 508A really weak.
