The Kinetic's Release Date
« on: August 11, 2007, 07:17:05 AM »
Just a couple of days away(August 13) folks. Grab one up and get ready for the league season to kick off. This is our "Flag Ship" ball. We are so excited about this release for several reasons.

1) The performance level of this ball warrants a high performance price point, yet it comes at an uppermid price point

2) League bowlers should absolutely love this ball and the room it creates to the outside of the lane.

3) Simply put, hooking the ball is sexy. The movement in the backend of the lane is next to none!

Will the Kinetic share the same core/cover design as the Phoenix? If it does, perhaps Ebonite now realizes the value in Phil's creation. It sounds like an exciting ball.

I thought I read here a short while ago that Ebonite did not regard the Phoenix as a premium performing ball and that the new Temper was going to be closest to the Phoenix in overall performance. Not 100% positive but pretty sure that's what I recall.

Will this ball be available on 13th?

Also, any suggestions on pin placement, top weight, and layout to set this ball up for house shot with medium oil? I like to play down and in primarily, following oil to the inside.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, as I plan to order this ball Monday and drill it up when it gets here.

I also plan to get the Temper but may pass on the Rising.

thanks

Ebonite did not see the Phoenix as a high performance ball. The Temper is essentially the Phoenix, but improved in my opinion. The Temper allows the bowler to move deeper on the lane when the transition calls for it. The Phoenix would tend to get lazy and not turn the corner when someone had to get in deeper.

OOB the Kinetic is a medium/heavy ball in my opinion. It covers alot of boards in the backend. It does have to find friction in order to turn the corner. I see it being useful on a variety of different patterns.

Charles,

Based on the information in your profile I would suggest a layout with the pin 4 1/4 from PAP keep the pin about 3 1/2- 3 3/4 inches above your midline, place the MB(although weak, still use it when determining layout) 4 inches from your PAP.

This layout should work well considering your forward roll.

Thanks Carl,

I will be ordering in the morning. Anxious to see the new balls from track. Everyone in my house are big storm or hammer fans.

Any particular ball specs you would suggest?

As for ball specs.....I would say a 2.5-3.5 pin from cg would be a good start. This will allow for some flexibility of layout choice.
