Track is hugh in my area. I've been looking for something that will handle medium conditions. The problem is carrydown, here the oil moves down the lane fast. I'd like to get a solid resin and try that first. I'm not the biggest fan of particle covers. Not ruling them out, of course, just prefer the flexibilty of resin. Anyway, using a tour power and a polished super charge I'm not getting a strong transition in games 2 and 3 of a set. My thinking is go to something stronger or square up. Squaring up (for me-here) doesn't work. It doesn't carry the corners. Going stronger for me is a Blueberry buzzsaw. It rolls way to early for this pattern length. Don't want to polish it up because that's what I did with my Super Charge. The SC gets to the pocket just doesn't have that pop and carry. My specs are in my profile any suggestions would be appreciated. My team mates have decent success with Animals and Mutants, on this condition. However, I've been really interested in a Rule, just to be different. Thanks in advance.

Brian,

I go through the same exact thing in one of my leagues......tell 'em Rick**L**....., The Rule will definately help solve this problem. You want a layout that starts up early, but still retains alot of energy for the backend of the lane.

The layout I have one mine for that nasty carrydown is: Pin 4 inches from PAP, MB 5inches from PAP-----about 1 inch right of the thumb. NOW....the MB location for you may be different because the layout is based on your PAP. Meaning...for my MB location right of thumb, and your MB location in the same spot it could cause a different reaction.

The Rule is not as strong in the midlane as the Animal, it is stronger in the backends though. Comparing the Mutant to the Rule.....the Mutant was awesome when it came out, but the Rule is a much better ball overall.

Hey Brian,

Ex and I both are going thru this problem with the lanes changing. My problem also is that if I try to use anything stronger to combat the carrydown, it also wants to roll up too quick because the heads/midlane start to grab it. I ordered another Rule to compliment the first one because I know the backend strength it has but now I need it to clear the heads as well. This sounds pretty similar to your problem with the BlueBerry reacting to soon but you also need the backend strength, right?

As Ex and I discussed this situation, I'm going to drill my 2nd Rule for length, pretty similar to what Ex said. I may have to litely polish it though because I'm slower. My other alternative is to also polish up my Untamed and see if it fits this mold. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer on this because I'm just trying it myself. Hopefully this should work....

The guys around here seem to do great in games one and two and we all seem to lose it in the third. I make a move to the stronger balls (Super Charge and Blueberry) I get too much hook on this pattern and come n behind the headpin and get a ringing ten. Same ball: move left and hits dry too early and I'm all over the head pin. Go with a weaker cover (Flashpoint, Pearl Beast, Too Hot) Point up the boards and get weak corners all day. Try to hook them and it's more likely a washout. It's funny that I primarily use a Storm Tour Power and score quite well, and the others in the league all use top notch equipment. However, this stuff really moves the oil around quickly. In the past, I've used particles like El nino 2000 and Track EMB, (scuffed) to combat carrydown with some sucess. I think I don't give myself enough credit for putting revs on a bowling ball. I'm averaging 217 in this league and I'm barely averaging 200 the third game. I'm thinking that a Rule will be versatile enough to get me through all 3 games. Now, just have to figure out the layout.

Hey Brian,

From these 2 statements, I gather that the heads/midlane are drier in the middle? You mentioned that the Blueberry is too much from the inside but you can get it to go long and come behind the pocket from the outside? If I'm understanding this correctly then that sounds like a lite reverse breakdown, the further left you go, the drier it is. If this is the case, then I'd go with what Ex suggested earlier, about a 4x 4.5-5 mb. This will help create some length (basing on your pap measurements) but the coverstock should still bring the ball back sooner than the Blueberry so that it does not finish too late to help carry those corners. Hope this helps or if you need further info, just holler....

Going out today to place the order for the Rule.
I'll let you know when it gets here and how I'm going to get it drilled. In the meantime my pap is 4 5/16 over and 1/4 up. Kind of a low track, but not a spinner. Looking back at some of my other layouts for carrydown, I noticed that I had really good results with stacked leverage 12:00 or 5*5.
