Rule yes or no????
« on: October 04, 2004, 06:30:47 PM »
I own an animal and I like it a lot. I've heard the Rule hits harder, revs better ,and has a stronger angle to the pocket. Do you agree with this? People say that I should try the storm ace because there is less of an over/under which I've heard the rule has. Thanks for the help!!

Hey Snowman,

The Rule does have all those qualities so long as the lane has some dry to read off of it.  The only thing I don't get from the Rule is the over/under you mentioned.  Even at my ball speed(14-15) and high tilt, my Rule just gives me a very strong arc on the back.  If you haven't seen my vid, please go and see for yourself.

You can always drill Track's higher mass bias balls to not be as skid/flippy if that's not what you want.  That's what's great about them, we can truly control the shape and reaction point of the ball to the bowler.  You just need to make sure to communicate this to your ball driller or give us your personal data and one of our many Track experts will jump in and try and help.

Snowman,

The Rule and Animal are two different kinds of reactions (for me). I have 2 Rules and had to 2 Animals before dropping in ball weight.

The Rule goes longer, revs later. The Animal in my opinion hits harder when it is played on its intended lane condition. The Rule definately has a stronger angle to the pocket but that is due to the reactive coverstock. Getting back to the "revs better" thing.....The Animal revs tremendously in midlanes...the Rule revs very strong in the backends. I have not seen over under out of my Rule that I left dull, occasionally I get some over under out of my Rule that I polished-------but this is the ball that is not meant for heavier oil.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

snowman,

All I get is over/under with the Rule. At first I thought it was me or the drilling but after talking to 2 other very good bowlers that had thrown the Rule I figured out it's the ball. This ball is way over priced for the performance.

Personally, I think otherwise.  I do get over/under reaction although that is when I compare the reaction to my Animal.  The Animal is a very aggressive ball on the midlanes and provides a really consistent reaction throughout the entire lane.  So obviously, the Rule compared to my Animal over/under reacts.

In what terms do you mean the ball is over priced for the performance?  If it's regarding hook potential, I'd completely have to disagree (unless you have it drilled really weak) because the reaction I get from it is absolutely amazing.  It handles carrydown very well and I can play a very deep line without having to worry about the ball not coming back.  However, I do have the ball drilled quite aggressively, 4 1/2 x 3 1/2(MB) with the pin under the ring finger.  My PAP is 5" over.

As Dino stated this ball does over/under react. Plus you would be better off buying a Super Charge or Detour both are just as good if not better than the rule (and $100 cheaper) If you are looking for a little stronger (less expensive ball) look at the Alter Ego but stay away from the Rule.

I said that the ball seems to over/under react in comparison to a very evenly reacting ball, the Animal.  I've seen a lot of people with a Super Charge and a couple with a Detour, and by no means are those balls better than the Rule.

I've also seen the Alter Ego and it is a fairly evenly reacting ball (particle).  I still think the Rule is an AWESOME ball and no other reactive resin ball can compare to the performance the Rule gives.

By no means am I a tour level bowler .... or even consistent. But when I throw the Rule compared to a more consistent bowler throw a Detour.... no match!! The Rule out moves and easily out hit the other ball. My guess is the drilling is off somehow. My other guess is that to get everything out of the Rule, you need to be pretty good bowler, definately consistent.

Snowman

For me the Rule goes longer and has more backend action than the Animal, while the Animal reads the midlane better than the Rule.

They both seem to compliment each other very well.

As far as hitting better that would depend on the pattern you are bowling on.
Both balls hit hard and keep the pins low.

I haven't noticed any over/under with the Rule if there is a lot of oil in the midlane I grab my Animal.

As suggested by tenpinpros give us your personal data and type of condition you are bowling on and I'm sure someone on here will assist you.

I hope this has helped.

Well, having had a Detour and Alter Ego....compared to the Rule, there is no comparison. The Rule leaves them both in the dust.

The Alter Ego is a good ball, but it cannot handle the oil that the Rule does. The Detour is nowhere in the class of either of those balls.

I have a dull Rule and polished Rule....the polished one gives me o/u because it is drilled to skid flip, and with the surface at about 3000grit, if it hits oil when it is trying to release its energy it will not have the strength to turn the corner. The dull Rule and the Animal handle the conditions that the Polished Rule cannot. This is by design....filling an arsenal.
