Mini Review: Animal.....
« on: October 06, 2004, 04:23:26 PM »
3rd Animal....first 2 were 16lbs. I drilled this one just a hair different than my leverage 16lb Animal.

Ball: Pin leverage 1 3/4 above midline, MB on my VAL 3 3/4 from PAP....surface sanded to 800

Lane Conditions: I have used this in a few different centers. Most recent was flat shot 32ft buffed to 45ft. VERY TIGHT conditions. Wood Lanes

Line: I lined up 25 with my breakpoint around 12 board. This same line with any other ball I had (did not have the dull Rule with me) would not move. These balls include the Phenom, Freakazoid, Animal Untamed, polished Rule, and Mutant. This condition allowed for not miss area right, and only a board or 2 left. Every....and i mean every other bowler was pointing gutter to the pocket.

Reaction: EXACTLY what I got out of my other leverage Animal, strong early roll, and a tremendous ARC to the pocket. Even on this heavy condition I could see the ball seemingly self rev at 30ft. In order to get roll I had to play up the back of the ball, side turn worked as well....but made the ball attempt to be too angular...which is where I would have liked to have had the dull Rule with me.

Impact: The Animal is still the greatest hitting ball I have ever used...no matter what the drilling is. It hits the pins and throws them everywhere. Even on this long shot it still had great drive through the pocket.

Readability: YEAH RIGHT!!!! It reads oil and dry.....and it does not like dry. This ball will only be used on longer patterns when nothing else will make the turn.

OVERALL: 3 Animals.....all hook GREAT in oil. Having tried many other "heavy oil" balls.....the Animal is head and shoulders above the rest. I cannot stress a few points enough......#1- if it isn't hooking enough for you, odds are it is burning up #2- This ball as with any Track asymmetrical is very drill specific, if you want it for oil, don't put the MB in a weak or strong breakpoint position, you have to put the MB in a position that allows for earlier rev/roll.

Vas,

The pattern means that for 32ft it is heavy oil gutter to gutter, the buffed area is a lighter coat of oil taken down to 45ft.

I am sure it is possible, but very hard to believe they could make something that would move more than the Animal.
