Track Animal - Reverse Block Type Pattern Review

Animal on a Reverse Block Type Pattern.

Hey guys, thought I'd let you know how bowling went last night in league. Well they changed the shot on us again. Last week we saw medium oil (probably 35-38 feet) with clean backends, so it was pretty much a wet/dry shot. Well this week, they decided to put out an out of bounds on both the left and right side just inside of the 2nd arrow to the gutter.

If you got your ball out there...bye bye! Anyways, took the Slash out in practice as my benchmark. The ball wouldn't check up in the out of bounds area if you bounced it (obviously! hehe). If you got the ball in without speed, you would go nose or brooklyn.

I was stubborn in the first game and shot 165 with the Slash. Stubborn because I knew I should've been playing deep inside like one of my opponents (it was working for him). I tried several different shots. I played the Oil line and kept my hand behind the ball (2-8-10, split, & strike). I played the drier middle portion of the lane with more speed but couldn't keep my ball of the nose (left a durbin & split).

So for the last shot in the 1st game I experimented and took out my Animal.

I moved my feet left and targeted my ball at 23 at the arrows. My goal was to catch the Oil on the left side to get the ball through the heads and touchy mid lane and get the ball to travel on a tight line to the pocket. Well, let's just say that it worked! went 217 & 226 in the last 2 games of the set.

What I liked about the layout on this Animal is that it didn't overreact to the dry since it is drilled to start up earlier (MB just inside VAL). It's times like this that I appreciate a ball that will naturally "push" and not turn like a hockey stick like balls laid out with the MB in the Strong Position. Catching the oil on the left also helped out a bunch. It was nice to experiment with the inside line, because we haven't seen this at home too much lately. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. Thanks for reading!

Best Regards,
Ramtart

Thanks guys, I'm trying to make my reviews as detailed as I can to help out the other Track Users & everyone in general out there.

Chitown...thanks man. You're right, I like my Animal a bunch. I have almost 50 games on this ball since April. I now have 45 games (league, tourneys & practice) on this ball and it has been used in about 5-6 houses and on different surfaces. This ball seems to shine on Medium to Medium Heavy patterns. With the MB just inside of VAL, the ball starts up earlier and doesn't jump too crazy off the dry (unless the backends are really clean).

BTW chitown...do you still have any Animals available from the case you bought from R&D?

Thanks guys!

I completely agree with ChiTown. The Animal is the most controllable, STRONG ball that I own. Anytime I'm on a tough pattern, I pull this out, and I'm off to the races. Plus it's versatile as all heck! I also use it as my number one spare ball!

To hook the whole lane....I change my release. To go more direct....i change my release. To play with a small belly....I change my release and this doggone ball reponds to it all. A great piece!

But a greater review. I'd never even thought of trying to use it on a reverse block. Hmmm. Can't wait for my next tourny now. Thanks RamTart.
