Title: Track arsenal
Post by: Bahshay on January 17, 2011, 05:53:31 AM
I'm a big fan of asymmetric balls over symmetric.  Since Track sells asymmetric at all price points, I am seriously considering making a switch when I redo my arsenal in the near future.  I bought some used equipment (non-Track) before this season, but haven't matched up well so far.  I'm back to using my old equipment, some of which is very old (AMF Fusion Hook Monster from 2002).

Two quick questions for the Track fans:
What is a good 4-6 ball arsenal for tournaments and league?
What is a good "test" ball to start with (to try one before I buy them all)?

Thanks!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing I started with the 607A SE and I'm glad I did this ball is money on a THS. I'm in the process of selling some Motiv stuff so I can make the switch to Track looking at adding the 715T and a 505A if I can find one. Good luck and have fun. Talk with Tizzle on here he can get stuff at a great price he might even have some used stuff if your interested in going that route.

I agree- start with a 505A. I would grab a 7 series ball, either the 715C or wait for the 718 coming out in a few weeks. And lastly, grab a 916AT- the best of the bunch.

Or get 2 916at's and keep one at box (2000) and polish the hell outta the other one.

I have had a few of the new track balls and have enjoyed them all I had the 920a just traded to tmiller02 awsome ball really a strong ball. I had the 715A loved that ball had a ton of games on it. The 505c is a great ball sold mine to my buddy wish i wouldnt have. and now i am throwing the 607a by far the most angular out of the ones i have tried and a sure winner for the price.

Would depend on what type of ball reaction you are after.  I currently have the 300C and the 715C as I was looking for a more controlled reaction versus a hard left hand turn.  Very impressed with the performance of both these balls.

505T to start, very versatile, take changes well. It kills!! Start there and learn about the products. I personally think the 607A is too shot specific to be the first ball, but definitely makes a 4-5 ball arsenal. The 505T is more forgiving with the great core it has. 715T is a strong ball that needs long or heavy oil

I have from Track:
715T
505T
607A

purchasing 300C this week

Also have:
Brunswick3.5
Roto Grip Dark Star

This fall & winter I updated most of my arsenal since the alley went from a medium length wall shot to High Street. I currently have a 7T, 9AT, 6A, & KPearl (5A) which should handle all conditions or add a 5T & a 7A to fill it out to 6 balls. Depending on the shot, a 5T or 9AT would be my first buy.

first of all if there is a ball demo ( usually put on by ebonite) in your area then you can try some track products, usually the newer releases. if not these are my suggestions  ---- 916AT  this is an awesome ball that just kicks the crap out of the rack and the surface can be adjusted  ---- 718A -----   505T ------ 300C.

This is what I have as far as Track:

505T- Very strong ball for the long/heavy oil

916AT- My benchmark ball for league, strong backend

920T- My 2nd benchmark ball for league/tournament, very smooth midlane but can be somewhat angular with added polish

715C- Smooth arc for medium oil, find it better when it's dull at 2000.

607A-Length and angular on the backend (might replace 715C and 607A with the new 718A).

505C- Long and smooth arc for broken down shots and short oil

Thanks everybody.  There is a used 916 AT at my proshop that I am considering picking up. $125 seem like a fair deal (plugged, drilled with inserts/slug, resurfaced)?

Found a 920A for much cheaper.  What can I expect from this ball?  Where would it fit into an arsenal?  How does it compare to the 916AT?

One other question, what is the true oiler of the line-up?  Seems like I've seen 505T, 715T, and 916AT all mentioned as the heavy oil ball.

The 505T handles oil well at 1000/2000ab....
The 715T handles oil well at OB
The 916 handles oil well at 1000/2000ab

IMHO, the 715T is the best oiler........
I use my 505T at 2000Ab on out THS and it kills it! The 715T has to back in bag after first game is I use.

I would rather have the 916AT over the 920A. imo i believe it is more versitle for cover changes and can be used on different shots.

Ok, so what's the deal with track?  Has the 916AT and the 715T already been discontinued?  I'm new to track, but I am liking what I see out of them, but you cant find either of these two outside of ebay or here.  Maybe I missed the memo.  Can someone explain this?  It still shows those as new releases on their website...  I am just confused by this.  Any info would be appreciated!

It is available you just don't see them at the big three as they have limited the number of Ebonite balls that they carry in response to Ebonite making them house accounts.  I wonder how they will respond with the new Storm pricing policy?

505A

For league i just bring the 505t, 505c, and 505a. The whole 5 series line is amazing. Cant really go wrong with anything.

Would there be too much overlap having both the 916AT and the 715T at the same time?

I think I am going to hold off on the 715t since I just got the 916AT.  If I get a new one, I think it'll be the 505T since everyone and their brother swears up and down by it....
