Track ball for carrydown

Hey Track Legion,

Can anyone recommend a Track ball for a medium THS with carrydown?  I'm joining a second shift league and I'll be following a mixed league.  Lots of plastic balls so I am expecting carrydown.  Doesn't have to be anything from the current lineup.  Let's get those suggestions rolling!

I personally like particle pearls for carrydown.
The pearl helps it get down lane and the particle keeps it from squirting in the carrydown.
With that in mind I would use one of the following:
Machine drilled 4.25-4.75 x 4-5 (pin x mb)
Arsenal Angular drilled 4-4.5 cg stacked

It depends on how you want to combat the carrydown...do you want to play through it or do you want to get around it and have the ball finish hard off of the dry through the carrydown?

Great question and I should have included that in my original post.  How about options for both?  I would prefer playing through the carrydown.

When I play through carrydown I want a strong midlane reaction with pretty good continuation in the backend. The Robo was very good on this condition. The Mean Machine is also a very good choice.

Playing around carry down....the Power Machine. It tends to grab the dry strong enough to allow it to get through the oil once it has started its move.

I personaly love my solution power plus ex when I come across carrydown. I just more right and play straight. It grabs fast enough off the dry and just moves right intot he pocket. The only other ball I seen able to handle carrydown like this for me was the havoc. Yet that was to get around it.

Well sadly, I dont know how nice my Inertia rolls. It is still sitting in the shop waiting to get fixed. Carl says he will get to it soon. Last time he said that was when he brought my brother a newer sd-73 in to get fixed. That was last year at this time and it was just done 12-26-06. (O man I dont think I will get it for almost 8 months.)

Terry already has an inertia, but if he didn't that is what i would have suggested...when i put some surface on mine it ate carrydown for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

So an option to go through the carrydown would be to put some surface on your inertia if you do not think it is enough ball currently. And by looking at the drill you have on it, it looks like it should be very controlable and rolly so that is an added bonus for carrydown.

I also agree with carl on the mean machine...it will clear the heads a little better OOB than an inertia with surface, but it will also still be able to finish.

Once i get my power machine ill be putting together a video...maybe i can get on some lanes with carrydown (carrydown gets BAD at my center lately) and give you an idea of what that will do...

Hey Terry,

We have always discussed in this forum about carrydown and which is the "better" way to attack it (thru it or around it).  

Personally I like equipment that offers more midlane strength because this allows us to play more of our "natural" game or angle.  Sometimes getting a ball with more backend strength still forces us to stand deeper and then get it out very late (to the dry area) on the backend which isn't in everyone's arsenal to just stand left and throw right.  We're talking about changing body positioning, release/launch angle and possibly needing more axis rotation to get the ball to recover from that angle.

With this being said, I also like the Solution PP (as stated by qspot bowl).  It is much stronger then advertised.  We can also wait to see how your new piece turns out, let me know if you need help with a layout for that as well.  Hope this helps some...
