On my THS (med-light oil- first shift- figure that one out) I took my brand new 916AT

(Drilling #1- pin up center- weight hole) knowing OOB would be too much, I put 4000 and lightly polished it. It was too strong going from 15-5. I tried to play the 20 board but it sorta rolled out for me.

Now I put a lot of hand in this. I contacted my former ball driller who suggested I leave it at 4000 and polish the hell out of it. I'm wondering if this finish will turn this ball into an extreme "A" ball which is not what I want.

I have a 505C (4000/lightly polished) which performs great for me on this shot. Basically, I'd like to see this turn into my 505C but about 5 boards stronger, so I can play where no one else is playing.

What would this ball do at 4000 grit and no polish compared to 4000/heavily polished? I understand it will roll earlier, but I still need it to kick out the corners.

Any help?

Sounds like it might be just too much ball for what you are bowling on.

at 4000 it will bleed off a bit more energy then polished and be a touch smoother down lane.

the 916AT will always read the mids earlier than the 505C did at any surface from what I have found.

you could try delayed reaction on top of the polish and that might allow you to play further right with it.

You may also want to try keeping in the oil longer, instead of playing 15 to 5 what about like 18-12? what kind of reaction do you get then?

Well, at 4000/light polish, I went about 20-10 and got a little bit of a roll-out.

So too much friction for the ball playing 20-10 even with polish. Then its most likely not the proper ball for the condition. What happens if you dont swing it to 10 down lane? where does the ball start to read the lane?

Well, I went and really put my elbow into the polishing of this ball with some Magic Shine and tossed it last night.

Went down and in for the first game and it sat there nicely. Tried a few other lines the rest of the night and it came back with a vengeance. This shot was a little more slippery than my normal league night, but it'll work well I'm sure. It really is a ball you can mess with to get what you need. It's now a lot more smooth than it was- just what I was looking for. Just blew the rack apart. So it's gonna be a winner.
