Comparisons please - Arsenal Reactive, Scorchin', Big One
« on: March 04, 2006, 03:08:40 AM »
Looking for a Low Rg, symmetrical core oiler to pick up next.
Comparisons please? (posted in all three forums due to the, shall we say, potentially less than unbiased responses)...
Looking only for anyone who has thrown 2-3 of these candidates, not the probabilities from stats please.

Lefty,

Buddy, the Arsenal Reactive I have...a buddy of mine has the Scorchin and he and I have similar spans...another buddy of mine has the Big One, very close as well...hopefully in your opinion this qualifies me as to throwing all three...

Big One outhooks the Reactive and Scorchin
Scorchin' however is very smooth and its readability is more consistent
Arsenal picks up in the mids better than both, as for carry, these all hit pretty solid...if you are looking for a symmetrical however, I would narrow it down to the Scorchin or Reactive because the Big One has a Mass Bias and outhooks both...I hope this helps you buddy...maybe Carl can back me up on some of what I've said (and/or correct me; LOL!) God Bless you and let us know what you decide on!

Hey lefty,

From what I've watched and seen as of late.  I'd say Michael is pretty close in his comparison.  I also see the Scorching pretty early with it's duller cover but I did drill the Big Ones with a stronger mb placement so they wouldn't burnout.  My Reactive I'd say is a tad longer with better pop compared to the other 2.  It depends on your desired look....

Thanks guys. Asyms and I just never have gotten along, thanks for reminding me about the Big One. I used to throw nothing but Track, including back-to-back 300's with an Nrg, (my favorite ball of all time for obvious reasons). I've got three infernos already, so maybe it's time to try the Arsenal.
Appreciate the help.

Rick, any thoughts on layout for a low-track, rev challenged lefty?

lefty, I'd say a simple 4x2cg with the pin about 1.75-2 inches above mid should do nicely for you.  This should help you roll a little quicker which would help offset your lower revs and then turnover strong on the backend.

Take a look at my vid (in profile) and let me know how close we are in revs and speed, thanks.

Rick, speed's pretty much the same, but my revs are 270 according to CATS. Also, you bowl from the wrong side

Nah, he bowls on the "right" side.

But at least we're noncoformists. "Wrong" side = Best side
