Track Cleaners and Polishes
« on: February 10, 2007, 10:12:17 AM »
While I only used a few Track balls, due to the Ebonite buyout, my feeling is that the GREAT Track cleaners, compounds and polishers will be as sorely missed as their bowling balls, if not more so.

This just struck me and so, I just put in an order for quart sizes of a few of their liquids: Clean and Dull, Clean and Sheen and Delayed Reaction.

I did this because I believe there is nothing on the market now nor in the near future that will be as useful, to me at least, as these are. I have several of their other liquids, but I can see replacements for them. That makes these three all the more precious. Not being a pro shop these should last be a long time.

Would you mind posting on your delayed when you get it. I bought a 8oz and it didnt mix well as having white chunks in it. Hope yours is a newer batch.

I have a small bottle I bought from azguy; it is milk white and the consistency of hand cream. I assume this is normal. (Storm's Xtra Shine and Legends polish and Track's Magic Shine has a very similar look and consistency.)

Charlest, I am getting low on Clean & Dull and plan on ordering another QT. Even though Clean & Dull was replaced by Clean & Tacky, some say there is still a bit of the Clean & Dull still around. My question is,......Have you used the Clean & Tacky and if so, do you rate it with the same cleaning abilities as the Clean & Dull as it is advertised to be?

With Ebonite having a full line of their own products, I agree with you that these Track Products could disappear. The C & D is the only Track product I use as I use Polishes and Liquid Ball Cleaners from other companies.

Brick,
I talked to Del Warren and Chuck Gardener at a trade show last year while they were still with Track/Columbia.  They said that Clean and Tacky is the exact same product as Clean and Dull.  They planned to phase out Clean and Dull because the name was confusing to many as it really didn't dull the ball.

While I have tried Clean and Tacky a couple of times, I have not tried to compare them. I still use C&D for deep cleaning or for the start of a re-surface. Make no mistake: C&T worked just fine; I just have not compared them.

There are 2 bowling ball-specific compound polishes on the market right now: Clean and Sheen and Brunswick's Rough Buff. I have and use both, but prefer Clean and Sheen. I suppose I could always use an auto rubbing compound, but I prefer C&S by a wide margin.

The only competitor to Delayed Reaction os Neo-Tac's Control-It. I find DR MUCH easier to use and more effective.

That's the theory, YET the ABC/USBC decided, for some incomprehensible reason, that while it was legal to use Clean and Dull during competition, it was NOT legal to use Clean and Tacky during competition.

Yes, the name Clean and Dull is confusing. In fact we are still explaining it about once a month to newbies, right here on ballreviews.

try a product called extreme clean,  and extreme dull,  and extreme shine.
from a company named lane concepts>>>> 1-800-683-0037

we started using it in our shop last month,  and it now outsells everything.

plus,  the shine and the dull come in a larger 8 0z bottle,  which in the long run will save your customers money over the 4 oz bottles.

we had sold clean and dull in 8 oz. bottles for years,  and when they stopped making the 8 oz bottles and only had 4oz. bottles>>> our customer's noticed how much more they were paying for a 4 oz bottle {times two}, as compared to a larger 8 oz bottle.

example>> $7.95  4 oz,     $11.95  8 oz.

good luck

Hey Jeff,

I talked to Anne Marie Duggan and while this is just pure speculation on her part, she doesn't think they will do away with Track's cleaner and polishes. She thinks Ebonite does realize they are one of the best, if not the best ones out there, especially Clean and Tacky. They will more than likely do away with C300's versions, since they are a minor copycat of Track's...and I never see anyway use Columbia's cleaners, such as their C300 Degree Dull. That is just the dumbest name ever....lol

But like I said, pure speculation on AMD's part, but I hope she is right. Still....doesn't hurt to do some stocking up!

i agree with you about the columbia cleaners.   i think the reason you don't see them as much as track is,  they usually are only sold by the quart.
however we do sell a lot of degree polish.  600, 1200, and 2000.
i hope they not only keep the degree polish,  but it would be nice if they packaged them in 4 oz  or  8 oz bottles.

Question:  Are we sure that the EboSoft is going to discontinue the Track cleaners since they own the brand name now?

That would be horrible.  Clean N Dull is the ultimate.

Thanks, jls, but with the order I placed, I'll have plenty of everything for a long time to come. I'll keep your idea in mind. By the way they have a website:

if you get a chance,  try some of their cleaner.  some of our customers feel that it not only pulls more oil out of the cover, but it leaves the cover more tacky.

JLS,

Do you know if they'll accept an order of a single, small bottle of 2 or 3 of those from a private individual?
