Clean n' dull....too powerful for every week use?
« on: February 21, 2007, 01:34:49 AM »
I asked, over on the Ebonite board, about the best method of caring for my new Angular One and TNV. I was advised to clean them immediately after bowling with Powerhouse cleaner...and that using clean n' dull instead was unnecessary as it's so strong, and perhaps use clean n' dull once a month. This was instead of waiting until I got home from bowling to clean my equipment which was starting to take up to 30 minutes after bowling.

So...I now have a new Power Machine. So, what about it? Use a lesser cleaner and then use clean n' dull perhaps once a month, or use clean n' dull alone on a "after bowling" basis? Comments?

The CND will not hurt the ball by using it that often. Some people prefer to use a cleaner such as powerhouse or other liquid cleaners for after set cleaning and use CND every couple weeks to deep clean. I think it is to keep down on cost. However, I prefer to use nothing but the best(CND) cleaner ALL the time. I am not worried with the little extra cost of CND. It is THE BEST and nothing else compares. It will not hurt your equipment using it too often.

I agree with legend4life95.  I use Clean n Dull all of the time, typically the next morning after an evening of bowling.  By applying it with a used scotch-brite (usually green), my bowling balls maintain a very consistent reaction.  I also use a micro-fiber towel to wipe my ball off after every shot during bowling, and then immediately after we're done for the night, I do a quick wipe down using my own mixture of isopropyl alcohol, simple green, and water (this also works very well). I highly recommend using Clean n Dull as your regular cleaner.

Nothing against any other company's cleaners but Track's Clean n Dull and Clean n Tacky are TOP NOTCH cleaners. The Gel form helps it cling to the ball in order to do the deep cleaning. I have tried just about everything on the market and I have yet to find a cleaner(a deep cleaning oil)  that is even worthy of second place when compared to these 2.

I agree Carl, Tracks Clean & Dull or Tacky are the best cleaners there is on the market period, but being a deep cleaner, even though you can use it everynight after bowling, I don't see it practical. Thats why I use Legends cleaner after bowling for a night, until I put about 15 games on a ball then its time to pull out the Clean and dull, and have yet to lose reaction on a ball since doing my regular cleaning.

As of yet and have tried a few, there is nothing that competes with Lanemaster/Legends everyday spray on cleaner, it might smell strong but boy does it work. I use to se Ebonite powerhouse, haha what a waste of money, have also tried Tracks power wash, better than Ebonites, but can't hang with L/LM cleaner. Just a heads up.Peace

I agree 100%. I have used the Legends/Lane Masters spray cleaner and it is awesome......probably better than Power Wash and Ultimates Rejuvinator(a very good cleaner in its own right!). I was really impressed the first time I tried it.

As for the Clean n Dull/Clean n Tacky use not being practical....VERY true that it does take more time than spraying and wiping, but it works the best. If a bowler wants to keep the reaction of their equipment as consistant night to night as possible then that is the way to go.

If cleaning with CnD or CnT would take too much time on a nightly basis for someone, then  YES I would definately suggest the spray Legends/Lane Masters cleaner.

Clean and Dull is the best stuff on the market period. Ebonite energizer is OK and better tham most cleaners I have used with the exception of Track C&D/C&T and Legends ball cleaner. I think it is laughable on the Ebonite board how whenever someone complains about Ebonite ball death the popular response is, "it is becasue you didnt use energizer cleaner". It isnt that good. There is no cleaner on the market to keep those covers from dying a premature death.
