Track Countdown Launch on Website

Says something about a series naming video. Is it supposed to be a video explaining in detail about the number series?

This should have been out before the balls were.  Word around here is that the new series isn't selling well at all.

FASTTRACKERS,

Haven't sold any 930Ts more than likely due to the lack thereof oil where I bowl, but have punched up a few 715As for customers here...the 505C is a very under rated ball from the Track line up..of course any of those in the mid price range are going to be that way and wind up shocking some people with overall total performance! God Bless!

People need to start seeing these balls out on the lane! Any ball is hard to sell if nobody can see them perform. Everyone wants to new "S" ball or the new "B" ball and so on because they are seen on a regular basis.  A lot of people have said the new naming system has a lot to do with lack or sales...who buys a ball because of the name? If there was a staff guy throwing a ball on TV that was called the POS, but made it look great, they would sell!  Track's naming system is basically a "shelf talker" right on the ball.  That's it.  If you know ball specs or dynamics, it's an easy way to understand that characteristics of the bowling ball.  Track has always been about the higher end bowling ball, the more dynamic bowling ball, that's their M.O. I have been using the new line for about a month now and I am very impressed with all 3.  Any of the new 3 could keep up with any current ball on the market.  As I said in the beginning, people just need to see them out on the lanes.  They really are heading in the right direction and it's unfortunate that the public just doesn't get to see this equipment as much as they should!

It's a shame the new Track stuff isn't more popular, I've drilled 2 this month and they are some amazing pieces. I will be drilling a more.

I got to throw all 3 a few weekends ago. Very, very good stuff, IMO.

As far as the naming, the only effect it's had on me is remembering the exact name of each ball. I've been calling them 9T, 7A, and 5C.

some balls (manufactures) will sell better in parts of the country than others. Around here Track wasnt a very popular until I opened up shop and started throwing product and showing people different looks. I cant keep them in the shop right now. This month ive gone threw about 3 cases and on top of it finally Track got some good colors in their balls. I mean IMO the SE color was ugly and doesnt loook good going down the lane, Kinetic was black for the most part, and the temper was so so... towards the end of prduction they got some white in the temper and those looked fairly descent.
The number system doesnt seem to not sell a ball once you do a brief explanation of it to a customer. I mean the 715 is probably one of the prettiest balls on the market.
Talking with Carl this week he was a bit shocked that the 505's ive drilled with like 50x4.5x60 layouts and sych are angular. Out in his neck of the woods they are smooth. Of corse it depends on the hand in the ball

Like I said, over and over when this all started, I don't think giving balls a number for a "name" is a good idea, as far as pure marketability goes.

Now, Track is even having to come out with a video, specifically designed to inform bowlers about the naming system, in spite of my being told over and over that "Track is designed and targeted at the more advanced, more knowledgable, "serious" bowlers who care more about performance than about the name".  I was also told those people would "get it" because it was a simple system.

People don't want numbers, people want "COOL". The name "BLACK WIDOW" was "COOL" and sold a TON of balls (still is). The name "VIRTUAL GRAVITY" was "COOL" and sold a TON of balls (still is). 930T, 715A, and 505C are not "COOL" (unless you're a statistics nerd, and then you're probably not bowling).

Juggernaut,

The balls you listed were/are GREAT bowling balls.  They sold because people physically SAW them roll down a lane.  I personally had 2 Black Widows and not 1 of them was drilled because of a name! The performance was why I drilled them.  The Virtual Gravity sold as well as it did because 1) people liked the look of the ball and 2) because it rolls good for all types of styles.  Balls sell based on performance, not names.  I have had many people ask what ball I am using and when I tell them what it is they ask what it means.  I tell them exactly why the name is what it is and they accept/understand it.  They understand if a ball looks good to the eye or looks good on the lane, it doesn't matter who makes it, what the name is or if it smells like a cherry or a grape or what have you.  Balls sell balls!

The reason we have made the naming system video is not due to sales in any way. We have been working on the video for awhile and I as the Brand Manager was just not satisfied with it. As you know at Track we try to put out the best products and give the best customer service possible. We now are satisfied with the piece and it will launch in a few days. This is just the first video and it is telling everyone how the system works. The customer service phones have been ringing off the hook with consumer questions. Remember the traffic on the site is now just picking up due to the new leauge season getting under way. After this video launches we will be launching the individual balls videos. Please remember we only have out three balls right now and will be having three to four more this season. Just a quick note to the Track fans with the new system please purchase the right tool for the job you are looking to get done. What i mean is we are building a system of products and not always the newest on is the best. Get the one that fits the lane pattern you are trying to beat. All the products are good as long as you use then on the correct lane conditions. If you have any questions email to csr@trackbowling.com and i hope everyone a great leauge season. Anyone who thinks names and colors don't influence ball sales just as much as performance needs to open up their eyes.  people come into my local shop and always pick out the first ball that catches their eye, weather it be cause of color or name.  Let me tell you the 505,715 and 930 my local shop got in have not moved once.  In fact the operator said he will be sending them back to his distributor.

Also whose fault is it these things aren't being seen by people?  Sounds like bad marketing to me.  It is the companies responsability to get the balls in the right bowlers hands.

  Paul,

I understand your points, and all are well taken. I, myself, am a very technically oriented bowler who understands the system, and APPRECIATES what it is and what it does. That being said, I think that it could've been done in a better way that would've appealed to many more bowlers.

You have three seperate designations: TRACTION, ANGULAR, and CONTROL. If it had been me, I would've started three LINES with one under each designation, then used the number system to compare the balls. An example would be ( using the current balls ) The TRACTION 930, The ANGULAR 715, and The CONTROL 505.

Then, as balls were added to each line, you could give them different number designations within each LINE name, I.E. The TRACTION 720, The ANGULAR 525, and The CONTROL 910,

Maybe I'm just an old fogey, stuck in my old, traditional thinking, but I really hope YOU are right and I am wrong. I want to see TRACK doing well and being a prominent competitor, I just don't think the new "system" is doing ANYTHING for their popularity and marketability, and in todays highly competitive market, that can be the difference in survival and failure.

When the 505C first came out I thought, "that's a weird name to put on a ball." and didn't have much desire to buy it. But after understanding the naming and ball characteristics the overall performance of it said how great it really is and I'm really glad that I got it. Two other balls with similar names I had in the past were great balls (SR300 and RXS300). And I noticed that one bowler in my league recently got the 715A and it's quite angular like the Kinetic and Power Machine but looks good going down the lane.

I really do hope Track will have another one out before the holidays and try to keep the 5,7,9 series going as long as they can.
