I've been bowling for 3 years, this will be my 4th in my leauge. only the past 3 years have I been seriously bowling.

Feel in love with track balls, tried to get an Assassin but they had been discontinued for a while, so I grabbed an avenger.

I love the ball, but lately its been breaking down on me, I've had it for 2 and 1/2 years, and its only 14lbs..

I've been having trouble with my release lately, but I want a ball that I can throw from 6 boards left of the middle dot, down to about 13-10 board, and have it come back strong and hard. Don't know if there is a ball that can handle that, so Im more then willing to move around, but I just wanted to give you guys an idea of a shot I'd like to do. I throw my Avenger fast, 16-18 mph and I am trying to get a cranking release down. I've been looking at the Track Rule, Xception, Sheer Havoc, and I've been eyeing the Animal, but I can't really pin a ball down. Money is a slight issue, I want to spend less then 130 on a ball, not including drilling of course.

Any advice would be well appreciated, I know I've been a little vauge, Im not great with bowling lingo

I would get an Exception. Buddies Proshop has it for just your price too. It has move backend than your Avenger, and the Rule.

Where should I put the pin placement? I was thinking about 2" from CG, is that too much or too little for my type of shot?

Bourne,

So much of where you play on the lanes with a ball is determined by the conditions on the lanes, the bowler's style and the layout being used on the ball. Depending on the lane conditions every ball in Track's lineup could be used in that area.

Please try to be a little more specific about your game and the lane conditions and we will try to help out.

Hmmm

Well I play in a house league for most of the year, the lane conditons are, I think, wood, but the problem is the oil. Sometimes they're dry, sometimes they're medium oil, but its mostly a stadard oil pattern that covers almost all the boards evenly (forget the exact name for it) Sorry I don't know much more on the house conditions, I'll have to ask sometime.

Tournaments though are also a factor. Since Im 16 I bowl in YABA tournaments, which include the City tournaments and I went to states last year. There the lanes are usually medium to heavy oil, though the pattern is a mystery to me...

No need to apolgize for vagueness, we are here to help as best we can with the info you can provide. If possible....check with your center and see what kind of oil pattern they use. Then, talk with your pro shop operator and see if he can help identify what various specifics of your game are (such as axis tilt, PAP coordinates, approximate rev rate, speed etc...).

If you cannot find out all of those things, then just do the best you can. Let us know what the above items are as best you can, and we will do our best to give you an accurate suggestion on a ball for your game.

Hey Bourne,

Print or write down what Excaliber mentioned and take it to your local driller. He/she should be able to help you answer these questions and then get back to us. If we can't get the info needed, did you want something stronger or weaker than the Avenger or a replacement for it?

This typically is referred to as a flat pattern.

Thanks all,

My leauge has the week off this week, so I wont be able to get the info. I can definently give you an apporx ball speed and rev rate. I try to put some massive revs on it, but usually a med rev shot works very very well for me and my ball, and I throw my ball around 16-17 mph.

I want something stronger then my avenger, that can handle oil very well, which seems to be the problem with my avenger as of now.

Hey Matt,

If that's the case, I'd recommend the Rule or the Animal. Both balls can handle heavy oil very well. Your main difference (between the two) is that the Animal is particle and the Rule is resin. Both are great balls to choose from. Once you get back to us with your personal info, we can help with a layout as well. Thanks..
