UpRising Coverstock Help!!!!
« on: August 21, 2008, 09:20:59 AM »
I have had trouble with my UpRising actually hooking too much in the backend. I love the reaction but it becomes hard to control with the ridiculously strong flip it has. My high track and early roll release just magnifies this characteristic.

Should I change the coverstock to 4000 (which tends to smooth out balls pretty good for me but it takes away some of the recovery from the inside angle) or should I sand the cover to 1000 and put factory finish on top of it?

Thank you for your suggestions,

That would be best to ensure you get all of the factory polish off the ball. If you started right at 4000, you might leave some. Carl told me to even start at 500 if I wanted to change the UpRising surface before I used it. I actually liked mine the best on THS with the box finish. On flatter patterns, 1000 or 2000 worked well.

I'm still trying to see what surface works best for me with this ball.  It's at 1000 right now.  Strangely, my K.E. reads better, and backends harder than my UpRising.

Anyone else have this?

if you have #1 drilling, it is probably burning up. Mine was at 4000 abralon no poilish, even on fresh double oiled lanes. I polsihed it and now it more a monstewr because of the energy stored
