I'm a little confused with the #4 layout and hope that someone can explain so I can understand better. The #4 layout is for Length with smooth backend. You place the pin 5" from your pap and 3" from the VAL and you place the MB on the VAL.
I'm trying to layout a 505C for my wife (and myself) for control on screaming backends, 38" length THS. If I use the #4 layout (my wife's axis is 4 over and 5/8" up) it comes to a dual angle layout of 15 x 5 x 34. The first angle (drill) supposedly dictates roll (early to late). The smaller the number, the earlier the roll. The second angle (VAL) dicates response to friction. Again, the smaller the number, the more violent the reaction. Is the purpose of the small drill angle to get the ball into a roll sooner and burn off energy so it doesn't jump hard on the backend? If I was thinking about laying out a ball (before I read the suggested layouts) I probably would have been around an 80 x 5 x 40 (or something like that). Would that make it too skid/flippy? Thanks for any help and ideas on this.
